LG readies first 47LH50 3D LCD TV -- just 29,999,999 to go
LG is set to release its first 3D TV -- the 47-inch 47LH50 LCD -- into the Korean market next month. As our tech overlords, this could signal a trend that'll head west. In fact, LG estimates that the 3D television market will exceed 30 million units by 2012 -- exactly what we'd say too if we were in the business of selling televisions. Hmm, 30 million TVs multiplied by 4.5 pairs of glasses required for the average household -- guess we'll be investing in polarized lenses.

How much will it cost?
42LH50 already at BBY for $1499
THis is not the sae as the US 47LH50, the spec sheets for the 42/47LH50 mention nothing about 3d. The special feature for the US TV with that model is Netcast to do Netflix and YouTube with.
i was at ces and 3d tv's are f...awesome.watching starwars and concert, games on it was incredible.
its the next big thing !!!! can't wait!
Not to nitpick, but it's only a 3D ready HDTV. It doesn't actually allow you to start watching 3D HDTV out of the box. In fact, Samsung HDTVs have had this same feature for years. The problem is that there isn't any content for 3D, which is why isn't hasn't gone anywhere. The most you'd get is with sports, but I'd imagine ESPN would go the route of HBO instead of you being able to watch American Idol in 3D.
Also, the 47LH50 television was written about by Darren on 6/11 - http://www.engadget.com/2009/06/11/lgs-netflix-friendly-47lh50-and-50ps80-netcast-hdtvs-now-shippi/
I remember reading something about a company making televisions which didn't need glasses, so hold off on investing in any companies...at least until a standard gets established.
After seeing UP in Disney 3D I can say that I am a believer. It was an amazing experience and well worth the additional cost. I don't like wearing the glasses for that long but I'll make sacrifices to get that experience. Now I just hope they don't screw me and introduce a 3D standard not compatible with my Sammy plasma.
I guess all the TV stations are gonna have to get rid of those old-timey 1080i and 720p cameras and switch over to 2K res 3D soon.
Suckers.
