PlayOn media server adds local media browsing to go with Hulu & Netflix, goes on sale for half price
In a rather timely update considering recent events, MediaMall's pumping up its latest additions to the PlayOn media streaming software. In addition to access to Netflix, Hulu (still working) and other streaming video (new ones being added through plugins) on your PS3, Xbox 360 or other DLNA-compatible device, it's finally beta testing the long requested ability to stream locally stored music, movies and photos as well. Better yet, even if you've tried the software before and found it wanting, the trials have been reset so you have 14 days to give it another shot and, until June 31 can be purchased for half price at just $19.99 with coupon code PLAYON1999.

Awesome sale, can't wait to buy it...going to wait until the last day June 31st. :)
@Big TV ppl: cut it out, you can't win. We'll just keep sidestepping your childish games faster than you can put out updates. WAY faster. Or, just stop making TV shows, that way we won't watch them on Hulu! Haha, you'll show us.
worthless is you own a mac...fail
Owning a mac: fail.... :-)

Is there a new calendar with 31 days in June?
Depends what planet your buying from.
Ive had it for several months and its well worth the price. I wish we could add streams from places we choose but besides that its all good.

PlayOn + XBMC = WIN!!!
I tried PlayOn a few months ago, and found it to be a nice solution to get Netflix on my original XBOX, and Ubuntu HTPC, both running XBMC ( and boxee on the HTPC). Hulu is a nice added bonus. I missed out on the initial 19.99 offer though, and I'm glad I waited to register. Just bought it yesterday with the coupon code. I was really hoping Mono would come through with native Netflix (Silverlight) support on Linux, but I just couldn't wait any longer.
wow, just checked it out. love it. buying it. thanks guys!
I've been using Playon for a couple of months now and it works great on my PS3, XBox 360, and XBox with XBMC. If you go register at www.playonplugins.com you can dl and install plug-ins for several sites. The only issue is when a site redesigns it's pages it can break the plug-in until the author updates it. The local files option has actually been available as a 3rd party plug-in for a while and works really well. And now that the API has been released anyone with a little programming experience can create a plug-in for their favorite site.
I've been using this for a while. Love it. For $20, its an absolute steal.
The only downside to PlayOn is that it doesn't stream in HD. Other than that, viewing Hulu and all the other Plugin content from playonplugins.com makes it well worth $20.
Netflix isn't in HD? I thought it looked pretty damned good. Oh well.
F*uck PlayOn they don't even support PPC Macs!!!! Bastards.
Apple no longer supports PPC Macs.
Why should anyone else?
Bought it yesterday and spent all night watching streaming stuff. It was amazing! Hulu, Netflix, Amazon VOD, YouTube, YouPr0n, Discovery, HGTV, ESPN, gametrailers, etc...
The only thing it didn't do was stream MP3 podcasts. I had to install PS3MediaServer to get that to work.
Overall, the best $20 I've spent in a long time. If I wasn't an HD freak, I'd consider cancelling my sattelite service.
