I'm sitting here with my Denon 3805, great receiver, that can't decode any of these new codecs my Samsung 2500 blu-ray is putting out. I'm using the 7.1 outputs, but notice that the lack of processing makes it sound way different from the TOS link (DD/DTS).
The Sammy doesn't let you set speaker distance, but it's a pretty small room so I'm not picking up a problem with that. It also doesn't let you adjust the subwoofer output (the denon does allow me to increase the 7.1 input, so I've done that). I think it sounds good using the 7.1 with the Sammy doing the heavy lifting, very crisp, but I'm so used to the post processing from the Denon that I can't tell which is "better".
What do you think keep with the 3805 or pay a $2-3k and upgrade??? (I could upgrade the player to (like the Oppo which has more speaker set-up control), but I love the built in netflix in the Sammy...)
“An engineer explained to us that hundreds of ear impressions were gathered in the name of research, and while each one obviously boasted its own unique shape and size, one single characteristic remained uniform across the board: the entrance into the ear canal is not a perfect circle, it's an oval.”
