This double dipping is getting out of control. The
Watchmen Blu-ray disc hasn't even released in standard and Collector's Edition form, and Warner is already plotting a 5-disc set due for the holidays. As shown in the flier there will be 2+ hours of more bonus content, new commentary track plus the
Watchmen Motion Comics packed in, with
Tales of the Black Freighter integrated into the director's cut of Watchmen for an even longer movie. Because what
Watchmen needed was to be longer.
This is great for fans who knew it was coming & hoped for it. I'm in. I just hope they manage to allow us to watch which ever version we want and have the director's cut commentary audio as well.
The movie did not seem long at all, neither of the two times I watched it :)
Wow, three versions... and the movie didn't break even domestically!
I guess this bodes well for Terminator Salvation, which did a little better than Watchmen, but is a movie that actually NEEDS all the stuff put back in!

thats why i stay away from the blu dipping sauce" !
Double dipping in the Blu-cheese
At least they are announcing this before they release the other versions. Now you have no one to blame but yourself if you buy multiple copies. (At least until the 8 disc Watchmen who-is-watching-the-watchmen edition with the action figure comes out.)
Well at least I am no longer tempted to do anything but RENT the version coming out the end of this month.
Yes, RENT. *wink, wink, nudge, nudge"
Wow, that movie lasted forever as is, why the fuck would you want to watch 2 MORE hours of it?
I'm uninthused, even more so when I saw the trailer in the theatre. Only thing the movie has going for it is a Smashing Pumpkins song in the soundtrack.
Thank you so much I have been waiting for your opinion and now I have heard it, thank you so much now I can finally close my computer down knowing that I know what your opinion is.
No problem bro.
Sorry to disappoint, but the Smashing Pumpkins song is not in the movie, nor is it on the official soundtrack...it's only in the trailer.
Though I doubt it, maybe it will be included in the Director's Cut or the Ultimate Cut...?
At least now I know to cancel my pre order for the original version
I think I'll stick with the standard Director's Cut BD. But thanks for the heads-up anyway, Warner.
at least we're being told about it now instead of six months later, i guess.
I seem to recall hearing while the movie was still in the theaters that this was a plan. I recall Zack Snyder talking about integrating "Tales of the Black Freighter" into an extended directors cut from the get-go, so I find this announcement hardly surprising.
i mean i understand re-releasing movies when they are like 10 or 15 years old but this re-release is coming out like 5-6 MONTHS after the original release with no purpose other than to add extra features (no restoration)
So you think they should restore a brand new movie? Or should they just not release the extras?
I say we start boycoting all DVD's until these shaddy double dipping practices are stop by the manufactures!!! Iam a collecter and i have to make sure no corners are dented on my boxes...thats how serious i get about them...imagine how pissed i get when 2 months later a better bly-ray or dvd is released. Thats just B.S. there must be something we could do as consumers to stop this crap!
Step 1: Stop collecting
the rest of the steps will take care of themselves.
I heard this will not include the extras being included in the release due on the 21st. its essentially a completely different release. I dont think i will bother with it myself. Happy with the directors cut. ALso is that 5 DVD's they are talking about of 5 BD's? Doesnt really allude to being BD related.
damnit i still wanna watch this movie
Thanks for the heads up, WB. That sounds like sarcasm, but I wish this was common practice. Was this an announcement or a leak?
