Things really turned around quickly for Blu-ray this week as not only is there an honest to goodness day-and-day blockbuster in the way of
Watchmen, but there is also a couple of TV Shows and a catch up title from Universal. On top of all that there is also a nice trio of documentaries like
NOVA: The Incredible Journey of the Butterflies and two
Scenic National Parks.
- Watchmen (Warner)
- 300: The Complete Experience (Warner)
- Pushing Daisies: The Complete Second Season (Warner)
- Prison Break: The Final Break (Fox)
- Midnight Express (Sony)
- Coraline (Universal)
- I Now Pronounce You Chuck & Larry (Universal)
- Echelon Conspiracy (Paramount)
- The Great Buck Howard (Magnolia)
- NOVA: The Incredible Journey of the Butterflies (WGBH)
- Scenic National Parks: Glacier, Banff, Jasper (Questar)
- Scenic National Parks: Zion & Bryce (Questar)
I'll be picking up Watchmen, Coraline, and the new edition of 300 myself.
I was going to pick up Watchmen... But then I heard that a newer, better, shinier version is being released before Xmas... So I'll just wait for that.
the version will be newer, but definately not shinier. It will lose most of the special features of this release and just add in the animated tales of the black freighter. Nothing more. Zack Snyder even said that the version coming out tomorrow is his favorite version of the release.
I don't see how it'll lose the special features of the current one... It's a 5 disk "ultimate" collection.

I'm a bit concerned about the Freighter stuff being woven in - with BD, it should be easy to author the disk to not be forced to do that - but I still think I'll just wait and see.
Sitting with my Watchmen blu-ray in hand. One of the few perks of working in a video store.
Anyone had luck getting the Zack Snyder commentary to work? When I try to play it, it just gives me the spinning yellow cogs. After 10 minutes, I gave up. (Tried it on a Samsung BD-3600 with latest firmware update).
