I really wish they made products like this for the US though. Or at least a DVR without any subscription (something that would work just like a VCR did, only without VHS tapes of course). I really don't need nor want to pay a company like TIVO monthly to automatically record shows that I like. I mean, it's not hard to program/set the recorder for certain times/shows you want. We all did this for many many years with VCRs, it wasn't hard. Anyway, I'll stop bitching now. But if anyone knows of a DVR without subscription (except Moxi... I don't want to pay $800), and not doing it with a HTPC (friend of mine has been trying to convince me to get a Mac mini), please let me know. I would greatly appreciate it.

Best Regards

Chris

Comments on Panasonic's DMR-BW970 Blu-ray DVR squirrels away 2TB of your video

Check out the DTV Pal from Dish network. I need to upgrade the hard drive for more storage but will wait until after the 90 days is over. If you have good TVGOS data in your market its a great OTA system. Also have Media center running on Windows & right now. Its great for what the DTVPAL will not do.

Jason W

Comments on Panasonic's DMR-BW970 Blu-ray DVR squirrels away 2TB of your video

http://www.google.com/products/catalog?hl=en&q=sony+dhg+hdd250&cid=8140248393761382112&sa=title#p

Been using one for years. No problems with mine. Yes they are discontinued, nobody really new what the dang thing was for when they came out and I don't think they sold a whole lot. You can get them off ebay easy enough. Is somebody had an issue with the units, it was usually because they didn't get the tvgos signal broadcast in their area.

cfi on the fly
