Our friend Bill at the Digital Bits continues to deliver on some of the best and worst Blu-ray movie news -- although we really wish he'd make his site linkable already -- and this time it is the sad news that one of the most anticipated Blu-ray releases ever will be pushed to 2010. No word on exactly when
The Lord of the Rings will make it to Blu-ray, but it seems pretty certain that it won't be in the next four months. If it were up to us, we'd have a hard time shying away from 10/10/10, but that's just us.
Now tell me they are going to be the extended editions and I promise not to throw my shoe at you!
Agree w/NzYme in that perhaps they've noticed all the negativity at Amazon's sight regarding not releasing the extended versions..
Completely agree with those reviews. I want the extended edition Blu Ray or I won't buy it.
Amazon's "sight" ?
Lame...
Boooo! Hisssss!
Push back is fine, so long as the release features seemless branching of both Theatrical and Extended Editions.
Amen, Reverend.
I don't care about movies about retarded trolls anyway.
Oops. You uttered the R word. R is the new N.
I am against retarded no matter their skin color.
...retarded trolls. God, now I'm retarded too.
That means it's even longer for the Extended Editions that's actually worth buying. I love Hollywood double dipping.
This is disappointing, for sure. I wanted the theatrical editions (and I'll probably buy the extended cuts later too...), andI was looking forward to this release. The only bright spot is it does free up about $70 for a very crowded November...
No extended version - no purchase.
Oh darn!
FUCK!
Now tell me that they are dropping the extended instead, and all's forgiven.
THis definitely has something to do with New Line just settling with the Tolkien estate yesterday regarding the movie profits. They were probably going to delay it all along, and now that they've settled, they can now set a real release date.
That is cool as long as we get the extended version .
No Extended Editions = no purchase.
thanks to little bitch dorothy and big bitch scarlett.
Yes but all three extended cuts + all the extras would likely fit on one Blu-Ray disc. Two at the most. There's no reason for the big box and multiple discs.
...Apart from being able to charge more for it of course.
