We have good and bad news after visiting the Dish Network booth first thing in the morning. We're happy to say that Dish was proudly displaying a Dish Tuner for Media Center 7 at its booth. The bad news however is that it was just a "proof of concept." Which means no matter how hard we tried, no one would tell us anything about price or availability. The other thing up in the air was if the actual implementation would be based on VIP211K HD STBs like the demo, or if instead there would be a dedicated tuner. The last unknown was around VOD or PPV, which
we know was recently being tested, but still no word if it'll make the final version. The other bad, but not unexpected news, is the fact that like the first generation CableCARD tuner for Media Center, all the content is copy protected. As for how it works, looks good, but the channel changing was slower than our CableCARD tuner enabled Media Center. We did grab a video, but you'll have to wait until we can get it uploaded.

Looks like I'll be switching to this if it comes out, which is looking more and more likely now.
I want this soooo badly. The Dish HD only programming package plus the NFL Redzone channel would make me a very happy customer.
Dear Dish, If you can confirm that this will be released by the end of 2010, I will sign up for your service today! I hate my cable company would love to cancel and run your goodies with my Media Center.

You should ask someone there about what happened to NetFlix within MCE 7. The RTM version doesn't have it.
Total props Dish. I will consider changing my service if this comes out. All I wanted was native support.
Sounds like their 'proof of concept' isn't much more than a ViP211k, a Hauppauge HD-PVR, and DVB Link for HD-PVR from 1geek1tool.com. Is that true or does it give you more?
Nice to see they still have it around, but until it's ready for delivery it's pretty much in the same status as it and the DirecTV tuner has been since we first heard about these things: Vaporware. I'll be excited when/if I can ever order one.
Bummer that they're showing it with all channels DRM'd too. Regardless it would awesome to have a Satellite tuner as an option for HTPC users. If only... For now the Hauppauge HD-PVR is the only way.
Unfortunately by the time Dish/Echostar pulls there heads out of there as*** other more forward thinking technologies will have taken that share of the market ,and a large portion of there customer base away from them.
What a waste of labor and R & D dollars. :-(
