Just Add Power introduces Projector Connector HDMI-over-IP solution
It looks like the gang over at Just Add Power have cooked up a device that will let you manage multiple HDMI sources without the limits of traditional HDMI switches (and no, it isn't an HDMI Balun). The Projector Connector consists of an encoder unit that converts your HDMI source signal to IP packets and a networked receiver that decodes the signal at the display end. Add a managed switch and you can keep adding sources and display devices to your heart's content (up to 200 displays). Controlled by a PC over HTTP, this is definitely a product that will see more use in large organizations than it will in home theater setups. But still, what HD aficionado wouldn't love to get his hands on something this powerful and (relatively) inexpensive? The encoder (VBS-HDMI-308A) sells for $299, while the decoder (VBS-HDMI0108A) will run $250 -- you'll have to buy your own switch. Supports 1080p, HDCP, and up to 5.1 digital audio. wow...this is all really awesome minus the fact that it is only 5.1 and is not lossless
Video Bandwidth: 2.25Gbps (HDM1.3)
Maximum LAN Bandwidth: 50 ~ 60 Mbps
A newer revision of this that also supports DisplayPort would be awesome.
I assume this requires a dedicated network and can't share with a data network? I'd be interested after I see a review.
We saw it and recorded a demo of it at CEDIA. You have to see it to really appreciate it.

Also, this device has drivers written for Control4 and Crestron already.
The solution does not require a dedicated network. You can isolate the HDMI over IP traffic on their own VLAN's and have plenty of bandwidth left over for the home internet applicationsl.
Is it confirmed to be not lossless? It's not really clear on their website.
The HDMI over IP solution supports the DD 5.1 and PCM 2.0 audio tracks.
Just a short follow-up -- We now have drivers available for Control4, AMX, and Crestron automation solutions to integrate HDMI over IP into a total A/V distribution solution. Drivers for many more home automation solutions are in the works. If you are interested in any of these drivers, please send an email to support@justaddpower.com
