There's only one thing to call this week and that's Star Trek week. Sadly, of the six Star Trek Blu-ray Discs being released this week, the one we are really waiting for isn't included -- that's okay though as it'll probably take you that long to watch all of these. Universal evidently isn't out of catch up titles yet as it releases two more worth watching with
Hot Fuzz and
Shaun Of The Dead. The SciFi week is rounded out with the Terminator TV Show which we still can't believe made it an entire season.
- Star Trek II: The Wrath Of Khan (Paramount)
- Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home (Paramount)
- Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country (Paramount)
- Star Trek: First Contact (Paramount)
- Star Trek: The Next Generation Motion Picture Collection (Paramount)
- Star Trek: The Original Series (Season 2 (Paramount)
- Hot Fuzz (Universal)
- Shaun Of The Dead (Universal)
- Battle For Terra (Lionsgate)
- Book Of Blood (Lionsgate)
- Wallace & Gromit: The Complete Collection (Lionsgate)
- Ghosts Of Girlfriends Past (New Line)
- Observe and Report (Warner)
- Scooby-Doo!: The Mystery Begins (Warner)
- Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles (The Complete Second Season (Warner)
- Pierrot Le Fou (Criterion)
- Monterey Pop (Criterion)
- The Secret of the Nutcracker (BFS)
- Gojira (Classic Media)
- Lymelife (Screen Media)
- The Haunted World Of El Superbeasto (Anchor Bay)
- Hoop Reality (Terra)
Star Trek II, IV and VI aren't new Blu-Ray releases. I picked them up at Fry's months ago as a boxed set featuring the first six movies -- only $60 for the lot.
Even without those 3 movies it's still a 5 item Star Trek week. The 4 TNG movies and the second season of TOS. Don't know if I'll double-dip though. Waiting for reviews of the movies' transfers and audio.
Are you guys kidding with the Terminator SCC reference, that show is/was better than Dollhouse! I know fox has a boner for Josh Whedon (buffy/angel) but come on this is as bad as TRU Calling! Yeah she's hot but....
No.
Fox killed Firefly.
For that there can be no forgiveness.
"You got red on you"
"It's not hip hop, it's electro"
Terminator SCC was a freaking great show. It has a few episodes that were kinda slow, but most of them had crazy Terminator on Terminator destruction, with incredible scenes on moving trucks, cars, everything. It was a lot like the first and second movies more than the last two crap movies were.
I agree with Pip, this was a great show. Sure, it started off a bit slow and confused but was just really starting to hit it stride at the end. I'm still sorry that there won't be an follow-up to that really weird final episode where John Conner jumps back to the future. So to speak...
It was doomed from the start. The Writers strike killed it. I watched it all and as a Terminator fan I loved it... HOWEVER the writing was terrible going into the second season. The first season started kinda slow but built up to outrageously awesome by the 8th episode and Brian Austin Green was surprisingly absolutely fantastic. But with the second season it was like they just completely ran out of steam and had no plan whatsoever and just made it up as they went along.
It could have been so much better.
*note: don't get me wrong, I AM buying the bluray (amazon has already charged me). I still love the Terminator mythology too much, even in this alternate timeline.
Also got Hot Fuzz and Shaun of the Dead. Heck yes.
I got the ST:NG movies mostly for First Contact, but I like the others once in a while. (okay, Insurrection was just terrible... but I can still watch it)
So is there any difference between these Star Trek Movie DVDs and the ones already available in the Original Motion Picture Collection?
And by "DVDs" I mean "Blu-rays"
Are the ST Blu-Ray's remastered/updated or whatever? I remember some scuttlebutt about only one of the first 6 ST movies being really Blu-Ray worthy. I figured I'd wait to get them when they all were at that level.
I'm just tired of seeing ST:II in 4:3 mode and looking forward to it in all it's 16:9 glory.
Gojira!!!
Run for your Lives you fools, Run!!1!
Shaun of the Dead, I have to pick that up. Maybe pickup Hot Fuzz when it's $10 on sale.
