Those already upgraded to Windows 7 ahead of Thursday's launch events (no, we're not coming to your party) should find a Netflix button parked under the Movies section in Media Center starting today. Clicking it revealed a slightly smoother install process than the initial
Netflix upgrade for Vista users last spring, then it's off to the refreshed interface we
first spotted at CEDIA -- extender support or HD streaming is still out. Also updated is the out-of-beta internet TV sliding under the TV tab (new from beta 2: Adobe Flash video support and region locking) with a wide assortment of streaming video available, though the picture quality
still leaves something to be desired.
[Thanks, Daren & Craig]
Update: Not seeing it yet? Go to the Tasks -->Settings-->General-->Automatic Download Options and manually start an update there, the new tiles should arrive shortly.
about. freaking. time.
Nice, but where is our CableCARD firmware update!!
seriously don't care without HD support.
Anyone know if this works with the Release Candidate?
Haha i like the update i was just about to tell everyone that you can start the update in the options
Oh lordy the internet tv looks horrible .. it has some awesome shows and it would be amazing if it did not look like watching legos move ...
i have a 50Mbps Comcrap connection and a fast PC .. so its not on my end ...they just want it to look like junk .. to bad
I can't even get any of the shows to load
i watched a few survivors to test .. try that
I watched some HIMYM and NCIS and I thought the video quality wasn't all that bad, but the sound quality almost makes it unwatchable. It sounds like everyone's talking though a tin can. Hopefully MS will seriously crank up the quality, and start getting some Hulu level's of content going. I have to admit I was pretty shocked at how well everything works, and I think it has a TON of potential.
I don't get why they can do HD streaming on the Xbox but not MC. I really hope this isn't some scheme to protect the Live membership revenue stream...
Now c'mon? Really? Of course that is what it is.
No HD, No Extender, only useful if I for some reason want to watch a movie on the 19" LCD display connected to a Media Center or on my Slingbox. Lame.
I REALLY hope there are some other announcements regarding online content.. Most of the internet content is just clips... who wants to watch clips!
And the Netflix plugin is really nice and all, but it's totally crap cause it doesn't work on extenders.. I agree with Jim.. lame!
I think it's more that the movie companies see XBox as a more secure platform. You can't (the average person) hack it and apply some screen capture app to save HD content for later use. It's a more valid concern on PC's. I am in no way taking that side of the argument, but I do get the concern... My problem with the argument is that anyone who wants content illegally can find other ways to get it, this provides a dis-incentive for people to look for illegal copies when they subscribe to a place to get legal ones. In addition they actually get paid licensing from Netflix for that usage so everyone wins and piracy is diminished.
my HDPVR says hi
how is it hard to capture 360 content? People do this all the time to record in-game footage etc... besides if you really wanted to bootleg the movies you would just get the discs and rip those...
it must be the xbox live revenue angle and not the security one.
I can confirm that the picture quality is pretty bad. I have a 22" monitor but that doesn't hide it. Someone is right that they won't let HD Netflix stream on this because the 360 is an extender and would be a get around of a LIVE Gold membership. I buy Xbox Live for online gameplay, not to stream Netflix, which is only a convenient bonus....
Yep - Hauppauge HD PVR - very simple to capture off of XBOX
Anyone going to come to my party? Its the same day as my birthday so I know at least some people will be there.
I just finished setting up my home theather to find out Netflix in WMC7 does not offer HD... wohoo! :(
Back to the xbox... =/
