It's pretty hard to miss this week's premiere Blu-ray release,
Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen may not be as well regarded as the first movie, but the hype train has continued to roll. Still holding out on a possible purchase? A slew of reviews of the Blu-ray edition are available to help you make a choice, so dig in and see what there is.
The Dallas Morning News says FX can't turn a bad film into a good one, but were still impressed by the Blu-ray special features, while
Blu-ray.com's reviewer had perfect scores the video, audio and supplements of the IMAX edition, calling it "THE one to own" (reports on AVSForum.com also point to a volume difference between editions) Our friends at
Cinematical actually preferred the flick at home to the theater experience, citing the thrill of checking out the preparations entailed in making such an explosive movie, plus the ability to pause and take in each set piece individually.
DVD Town actually split up review duties between tow people with one on the quality of the flick, and the other on audio, video and extras, finding this flick "the kind of sonic spectacular one can use to impress friends and neighbors who haven't bought into Blu-ray yet."

Ripped this movie last night w/HD audio and it's a massive 40GB! By far the largest BD rip I've seen. OH...and the PQ is pretty good too.
Why...the fuck...would you do that?!
I ripped it since I had not seen it yet - it's more convenient to watch any BD/HDDVD from my popcorn hour than physical media. But after watching the movie it DID suck!
Numbers:
The Dark Knight cost $185 million to make, earned $1 billion worldwide.
Transformers 2 cost $210 million to make, earned $833 million worldwide
I'm sure the studios are thrilled with both profits, but I'm also sure Transformers 2 would've made a lot more money if the story was better. I also believe that the DVD/Blu-Ray sales would be a lot higher if the story was better.
Granted, more people know about Batman than Optimus Prime, but it was the story that made the extra $$ in the end. I'm a big fan of Batman and Transformers. However, I don't think I'm going to buy Transformers 2, but I bought The Dark Knight on the first day.
Even if they gave some great screenwriter $500,000 to touch up the story ... it might've given them tens of millions in return profit. I don't know why they don't try to do that.
do your numbers for the dark knight include dvd sales?
No, that's an added $222.7 million to TDK total for DVD/Blu-Ray sales.

which one is a better movie of the trio? Transformers 2, Showgirls, or Speed 2?
I'd rather see a transforming showgirl on speed.
They're all garbage, but I think Speed 2 is better by the THINNEST of margins. It's like choosing which of the three heads of Cerberus you'd rather be eaten by.
I'm just pissed off at the WalMart IMAX exclusive. I want the IMAX footage... But I don't want to support that business practice. If I buy it, I'm encouraging WalMart to keep doing it, and that's lame.
:(
I feel the same way. If I were to buy the Blu-Ray, it would only encourage Michael Bay to continue and turn out additional crappy sequels, and that's not something I want to support.
TF3 is already in production...I dont think your measly 20 dollar purchase makes a difference.
I bought it last night at Wal-mart and I was very disappointed in the shoddy, cheap packaging.
Your 1st mistake was going to Wal-mart.
Your 2nd mistake was buying it.
a crappy movie in high def is still a crappy movie. content ftw!
all of you idiots stop bitching about the movie!!! one of the best action movie this year, beside district 9.the amount of work went into this movie by ILM is amazing!!best cgi ever.best blu-ray this year for sure, the details in the imax scenes are awesome!and the sound is reference level !
if you want story watch some chick flick with your mom or boyfriend!
how many of u bitching faggots gonna watch transformers 3 ????huh?
Movie are not judged solely by the amount of special effects they contain. Transformers 2 is generally regarded as an awful movie because while the CGI is great, the direction is awful, the acting is awful, the editing is awful, the script is awful and the plot makes no sense. In other words it is a typical Michael Bay production - incoherent garbage interspersed with big explosions.
But hey, go buy the Blu-ray anyway. Eye candy clearly overrides other considerations such as the actual quality of the movie for you.
It depends on if Transformers 3 has Miss Fox in it. OK, even that probably won't be enough to get me to watch it. Transformers was a bad movie, Transformers 2 was just painful. Even the "talents" of Miss Fox couldn't get me to finish this dog. Bad acting is one thing but annoying acting is 10 times worse. Probably the only movie that I've hated more was Rhinestone, and that had Stallone singing country music.
AH yes, another Transformers story that is getting bashed by all the ANTI-Transformers crowd. It doesnt matter that the film made $402 million dollars at the box office domestically and made far more $$$ than any other film domestically in 2009. http://www.boxofficemojo.com/movies/?id=transformers2.htm
If anyone bothered to do their homework they would relize that Transformers 2 had the same screenwriters as Star Trek did earier this year in having ALEX KURTZMAN and ROBERTO ORCI at the helm. Star trek had wonderful reviews from everyone. But still, it only made $257 million for the year http://www.boxofficemojo.com/movies/?id=startrek11.htm. Moral to the story. Do not listen to the reviews or the so called experts/critics. They are so out of touch with what the average joe wants to see today in films today that it is hilirious. Make your own judgements and don't get led around like sheep by the biased "expert critics" that hate everything. Why do that think they are called critics? Ever wonder?
As far as Walmart getting the Imax copies for transformers. Look. Guys, you will just have to do more homework and be more careful and be on the ball when looking for and buying products. Busineses like Wal-Mart, Target, BestBuy and Amazon all get involved with their own special product promotions on occasion. Its called "Product differentiation". http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Product_differentiation That's just the way the retail business world works.
Cheers :)
Your points make no sense. A glance through these writer's screen credits show their output to be variable. And just because a movie made a load of money doesn't say anything for how good the movie actually is. Every year sees really bad blockbusters make a ton of money, often considerably more than good movies of the same genre. The power of hype and marketing plays no small part in that process.
I wouldn't consider myself anti-Transformer, but I did dislike Transformers 2. The first one, which I thought had a stupid plot, did entertain me and I could watch over and over. The second one is mostly pure crap. It's amazing they found a way to make the plot even more stupid, made the humans act like they haven't grown beyond childhood, and made the robots take on human qualities/ethnicities. The only good thing about Transformers 2 is Megan Fox. Really the fault for me lies in the direction. I don't think Michael Bay can direct anything beyond an amazing action sequence or what would look great in a commercial.
That it made over 400 million doesn't mean it was good or that people liked it. It just means it was marketed well, had a built in audience, and a lot of people went to see it-- probably based on their experience with the first one. Godzilla (the 1998 remake), Men in Black II, Spiderman 3 all made 400 million or near that, and weren't that good either.
Anyway, what people like/dislike is subjective. In my opinion, Transformers 2 sucked and it's not a movie that I'd want to watch again and again.
Uh, anyone else notice that the top four links are all the same thing, and that only AVS Forum links to a different article?

Seeing Shia Scream "OPTIMUS!!!" like a Darth Vader's Infamous Noooooooooo! is enough for me to just rent it. And just like Star wars another of my childhood memories has been destroyed. Such is life.
Tow people?
Yeah, they wrote their reviews in a boat...
I just watched it last night, rented the Blu-ray from Netflix. It's a very loud and fast 2 l/2 hours, and I only felt worn out at the end and not very satisfied with story development. The special effects and quality of the disc is outstanding, but that's not enough for me to buy one. Overall, it was not my cup of tea.
I'm going out on a limb here and I'll say it again. "You guys are taking things way to seriously. The film was made for older kids and mostly "teenagers" in mind. Do you think this film or TF1 was supposed to win an Emmy or Academy Award or something my lord? Do you think the average kid/teenager gives a darn about plot, direction or it's writers. Take the film for what it is. A sensory overloaded/teenaged hormoned laidened flick with great special effects worked in.
I'm sick of the negativity on this website. It's really supposed to be electronics/technology website. And it seems like all I get is a bunch of Fanboy or Anti-Fanboy BS when it comes down to this site covering a movie of anykind.
Lighten up :)

I rented the Blu-ray from Netflix last night. Amazing sound, beautiful picture. And I love a good eye candy movie as much as the next guy but this movie was painfully bad. At least the first Transformers had some moments. This movie makes Star Wars Episode 1 look good.
An well polished turd may be shiny and sparkle... but it is still a turd.
Maybe it was me only, but I saw an error in the movie at 2:07:50. That was when Sam and his girlfriend were running in the fight at the end, and there was a small flame burn thru Megan Fox, like the bad editing or something.
