But watching the Blu-ray the second time around, MAN! The awful really stands out!

I thought it had a good story, but it was buried beneath the poor execution.

OTOH, the Blu-ray has great audio and video quality. The Lossless audio really rocks.

But the surround sound is the best Ive heard and the picture was great. It was the most i have enjoyed my home theater in a long time.

There is no excuse for this either. Lots of movies demonstrate you can have a good plot, script, acting, direction etc. AND it does not have to be at the expense of special effects either. Pixar demonstrates that with every movie they make.

If the only criteria to measure a movie by is explosions per second, then Michael Bay is the director for you. If you want a movie that makes sense, or tries to connect emotionally, or features good acting then he most certainly is not.

really? just an opinion that differs from mine? you're telling me (and others) that we flushed our hard earned money down the toilet on a POS movie is far from an opinion.

an opinion seems more like "i don't see what all the fuss is about" or "the image quality didn't live up to the hype for me". even better, "i never cared for the movie in the first place". or...something pertaining to actually what (i thought) these forums are about. helping people, sharing ideas and obtaining useful information.

someone has to sift through 60 posts of "i thought the movie is complete crap and you shouldn't have bought the movie" to find 1 post that can give some actual insight to someone that's interested in purchasing the movie.

this particular post is about the blu-ray, not the film it's self or your siskel and ebert type of "opinion".

a constructive seems more like:

"i've got a PS3 slim, bit stream to onkyo 805 outputting a deftech procinema 1000 5.1 system, hdmi to panny 1080p plasma and my image quality seems good, but i'm not getting the sound i thought i'd get. 300 sounds wicked on my system. any suggestions?"

something as easy as "the first transformers seemed to be a better blu-ray transfer to me. i haven't changed my system since the first one was released. i hope your results are better than mine".

i could go on.

i know this post isn't going to snap this forum back to what it was a few years ago, but god's sake people post something of value rather than a senseless bashing post so people genuinely interested in help can actually get it.

Second one is to buy a decent amp(s) and hook it up to your pre out on the Onk. I hooked up a Rotel pre amp and power amp to my Onk, the difference is HUGE.
