Sony's 2010/2011 OLED and flagship XBR series LCD roadmap leaked?
Ready to dig deep, really deep, for a tiny but magnificent OLED television? You'd better be 'cause some purportedly leaked Sony documents are showing a new "KDL-ZX Series OLED" on the 2010 / 2011 roadmap. All the sets are listed as prototypes so they may or may not make it to market for retail. But with Sony's two year old, 11-inch XEL-1 OLED TV now dwarfed by LG's new 15-inch OLED TV and a 20-incher promised for 2010, well, we expect Sony will want to regain its leadership in the new year. The docs also show updates to Sony's flagship XBR series with the XBR11 LED W-backlit LCD and XBR12 Advanced LED RGB-backlit LCD sets coming in sizes from 32- to 60-inches featuring 240Hz Motionflow, a new Bravia Engine 3 PRO with HD Video processor, and UV2A panel technology. Unfortunately, some of the XBR information (the most important, presumably) is blacked-out and we're only looking at 2 of what appear to be 24 pages of leaked content. Boy would we love to peak behind that curtain. XBR11 spec sheet on display after the break.

This is encouraging.
I feared Sony were abandoning RGB local backlighting.
I hope this is true.
Sony issued a press release saying this stuff is complete crap. Quote:
"The information posted regarding Sony television models is incorrect. Any specifications, model names, photographs or other details were not issued by Sony and do not represent the company's current or future product line."
Because no one's ever tried denying leaked info before, right? If anything, the fact that they even are willing to take the time to deny it (really, if it were so false, why even bother? just mentioning it lends it credibility) gives the impression that there's probably something to this.
What is the HD Triple Tuner?
I didn't know that you could trademark EMO. Does the cure or morrisey have any copyright there?

Which press release? Sony never did this at the Alpha and PS3 Slim fakes, speculations and rumors. That´s kind of strange if Sony doing this ...
XBR 11 and XBR 12 already, aren't they just coming out with the XBR 10, damn they go through (flagship) models really really fast
The XBR10 isn't Sony's top-of-line quality model (I hope). It's a wireless, white LED edge-lit LCD.
Better LCD technology exists (RGB local back-lighting) and Sony had it in their XBR8 .
If the XBR10 is the best TV Sony offers for the next year, I'll be very disappointed.
*shakes head* Unless you are a Billionare, there is no way to justify buying an OLED. A 15 inch OLED costs over $2,000. On the other hand, my 22 inch Samsung HDTV was only $300.
Eh, sit back and wait a couple generations, until they refine the process a bit more, then buy. I'm happy with my XBR8 for now, but maybe down the line, OLED will be worth throwing my hat into the ring for...
