Engadget HD Podcast 165 - 12.01.2009
You can tell the count down to CES is upon us because the companies that make the things we love are quietly counting their holiday earnings and planning for the next big thing. As exciting as the anticipation is, it doesn't leave many things for us to talk about so we'll talk about our dreams from TiVo for CES and stupid things like HDMI marketing ideas. The FCC is almost always a good topic with broadcasters in fear of their business model and the MPAA dreaming of SOC for Christmas. Finally we talk a little 3D, unbelievable survey results, and our latest poll on your TV viewing habits. Get the podcast

Do you guys know if it is possible to burn a "Blu-ray" onto a DVD? If I only want to have a few minutes of Blu-Ray type encoded 1080p video on a DVD can I get it to play in a Blu-ray player?
This would be similar to burning a short DVD formatted video on a CD-ROM.
first off, love the podcast.
second, how about a guest or something to break things up? how about a Ceton rep to talk about their multi-channel card or someone like Tivo Shanan, a tv maker rep to talk about things pre-CES, dave zatz or brent evans?
lastly, love the podcast :)
I also have no idea when shows come on. I watch nearly everything via Recorded TV on Media Center and working graveyard I am not really home when things are being recorded.
It's funny that you guys were talking about cable rate hikes on this show. I just got a notice in the mail today from Comcast (in Atlanta) that TV rates are going up a few dollars in January.
Hey Ben and Richard,
This is Mitch. In the last podcast, you said I was the winner of a calibration disc. I had to re-register with the site when it changed over to the new design. I am hoping you still have my e-mail address from my previous account which I used to write my comment on the 11/17 podcast.
AAC feed is broken? (and I'm sure I've read someone before, but why is there still no option to subscribe to the AAC feed directly in the iTunes store?....Classic has this option).
@scotto Thanks, the AAC is fixed and should be fixed from now on. Checking in on AAC feed.
