Still waiting for the last software update to try the multi-room view but this looks great to. couple of questions though. Will this box work with DVR's you already have or do you have to replace all your boxes with clients? I have 5 receivers in my house right now and wondering how that would work. Will I have to pay $5 per box per month for the client boxes too? How big a hard drive are they going to put into this server?
When they say connected by coax, how does that have to be setup? Will the server connect back through the coax and the switch and to all the devices? Does coax work the same as Cat5 network does? Right now the satellite signal comes in and hits the coax switch and goes out to all the boxes in the house. The HR24 would be at the end of one of these runs. Can it connect back to a client at the end of one of the other runs?

techsponge

Comments on DirecTV's new HR24 DVR to reach customers this quarter

@techsponge I am also concerned with storage capacity. I have been paying attention to cable and satellite operators for a while now so that when I eventually transition off of OTA I know who to get. THIS is making me lean even more towards DirectTV. 3+ tuners? Simultaneous watching? And RVU built in? That last part sounds like what CableCard should've been for cable users, but never amounted to much.
