Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"We need a digital camera that can be switched on and fire off that first shot fast. It's not a commonly tracked statistic on any review site, and nobody seems to have this information for every camera. We were hoping other readers could inform us as to what small digital cameras can fire off their first pics in under a second (ideally under half a second). It needs to be small, but mostly, just really quick in operation. Thanks!"
Just wanted to say "Kudos" to Engadget for shutting off comments on the "classic" side. I appreciate good comments from people that add to the story with additional information not in the article, commenting on real-world use/application of what's in the story, or providing insightful ideas regarding other products, etc. that are similar to what's being discussed in the story. I was spending a lot of time reading posts about how this "sucks" or just plain nonsense and it had gotten to the point where I would no longer read posts.
So "KUDOS"!
