We doubt this represents a long term shift in
NBC's Olympic broadcast strategy, but it has announced it will broadcast the Gold Medal Men's Hockey game live in all time zones. That's right, even PST & MT denizens can tune into the game, originally scheduled to air later on tape delay, as it occurs beginning at 3 p.m. EST / noon PST Sunday afternoon. Still, after
16 days of continually shifting delay strategies OTA, cable and online, it's probably too little too late to wipe the bitter memories from the minds of many viewers.
Better late than never?
Luckily TiVo probably won't get the scheduling update so I have to remember to fix that now...
They broadcast the USA game today here in Portland, OR live on NBC.
@buck11772
Yea that was nice of them. Also Go USA! We whooped up on Finland today!
NBC's coverage is/was a joke. Tape delays remove the fun out of the Olympics. In the future I will wait until the end of the 2 weeks and watch it at my own pace w/out crappy commercials
So live is suppose to replace the bad feed? I quit watching because it was too painful. The one time in history that NBC could have shined hotter than the Sun. But . . . alas no. Now watch they cancel every thing that is keeping them on the air.
FOR SALE used and abused network. Real Cheap.
*Canada fan chanting*
We want USA!
We want USA!
We want USA!
:)
@catdogburger
That was the dumbest chant ever especially when we were only up 3-2.
Well duh. It's on a Sunday when majority of viewers will be home to catch it, as opposed to weekday programs with limited demographic.
Too late, NBC. Your failure is complete. FINALLY, you do the right thing and broadcast a major Olympic event live, but I'll be too busy watching NASCAR to notice.
Besides figure skating/ice dancing along with the gymnastics in the summer games; people still watch the Olympics? Especially the winter Olympics?
Thank goodness the horror is over. For 2012, I think I will head across the border just to get good coverage. If Leno isn't good on return, NBC will not be apart of my prime time viewing.
What are you guys going to do for the next 2 olympics? London is 5 hours ahead of EST and Sochi is 7 hours ahead. Are you really going to stay up that late/get up that early to see the event? Or are you just not going to watch?
Lets face it, only sport that can be gamble has to live lol.
