Sony's 3D-ready Blu-ray players released into the retail wilderness
Sony's latest Blu-ray players have been shipping online for a while but now they've invaded retail, spotted by our friends at FormatWarCentral on the shelf at a local Best Buy. A quick check on the website shows the BDP-S470 and BDP-S570 available at most, if not all, area stores so they shouldn't be hard to find. We know they're ready to give a Full HD 3D experience, and have speed to burn, but a few readers have already complained that the DLNA access mentioned in the specs isn't available yet, pending a future firmware update. If you just can't wait to get 3D ready (or just get a PlayStation 3) then this would be your chance.

Not to mention, a lot of the stores are getting aggressive on the old models (especially open box ones) in terms of pricing.
{sits back and waits for the whiners to complain about the glasses...as usual}
@JBerg
It is the single biggest flaw with the concept and will kill it commercially.
So yea, the glasses suck.
@nrb Forget the glasses: they are no big deal. The biggest flaw will be lack of good programming.
Other than built in Wi-Fi, the 470 and 570 appear identical. Is that the case?
I'm a little confused, I thought the 770 was Sony's only 3D player this year. What does the 770 have over the 570?
Not in the UK. :(
I'm wishing I lived in the states more and more. I agree that glasses could be annoying to a certain extent - I don't think I'd bother for TV.
But for movies - and movies on linear TV - I would easily slip on a pair. Whenever my home theatre is in disrepair, or whenever I'm on the 360 I'm happy to stick on a 7.1 headset, so yeah, I'm fine with glasses too.
Just quit hatin' and enjoy the extra-ness.
At AVS Forum, someone received confirmation directly from Sony that, oops, they have no plans to include DLNA functionality in any forthcoming firmware upgrade. False advertising.
