Blu-ray releases on May 11th 2010
After one of the great classic WWII movies of all times hit Blu-ray last week, this week is full of mediocre day and date releases like Mel's Edge of Darkness and Ethan's Daybreakers. Sony goes to the archives and brings out the Karate Kid movies, while Fox has what is possibly the worst Robin Hood rendition ever. Overall not a great week, but we've seen worse.- Edge of Darkness (Warner)
- Daybreakers (Lionsgate)
- The Edge (Fox)
- High Anxiety (Fox)
- Marked For Death (Fox)
- Robin Hood: Men in Tights (Fox)
- History of the World: Part I (Fox)
- The Karate Kid (Sony)
- The Karate Kid, Part II (Sony)
- Legion (Sony)
- M (Criterion Collection)
- The Man in the Iron Mask (MGM)
- Legend of the Tsunami Warrior (Magnolia)
- Tidal Wave (Magnolia)
- Deadly Duo (Tokyo)
- Rock 'n' Roll High School (Shout! Factory)

"...as well as what is possibly the worst Robin Hood rendition ever."
Isn't that a little harsh for a comedy about the man, Ben? What about the Kevin Costner one where he drops his English accent halfway through the film, lol? If you can't rock it like Depp or Cheadle (i.e., no slip-ups), I say don't even bother.
At least Mel's truly funny film is on here, as well as The Edge. Can't say the same for some of the others.
@engage
Unlike some other Robin Hoods, I can speak with an English accent...
@LazarusDark
Yes, and by some strange coincidence, Cary Elwes is from England! :) I am very pleased it's out on Blu-ray.
@Ben
Recognize that while Men In Tights is not the most dramatic rendition, it is a comedy which some will find funny and some won't. While you already know this, I thought I'd repeat it as I very much enjoyed the movie, had to "defend" it. lol
@Meekermoloko
Ok, so it wasn't Mel Brook's best, but it was funny. :)
"M" is really good, but it's not for everyone.
"Men in Tights" really wasn't that great. It definitely wasn't Mel Brook's finest offerings. At least it had Dave Chappelle.
I did enjoy the Kevin Costner "Robin Hood" for what it was back then ... probably not so much now. Wouldn't buy it on Blu-Ray, that's for sure.
Yup, I'd agree it's the worst Robin Hood:
1. The Adventures of Robin Hood (1938)
2. Disney's Robin Hood (1973)
3. Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves (1991)
4. Robin Hood: Men in Tights (1993)
