Motorola's 4 tuner DVR for Japan
If there was any doubt that cable operators were to blame for the crappy set-top boxes most people use -- and not Motorola or Cisco -- then this VIP2060 puts it to rest. This DVR will likely never see the US shores with its four tuners and 500GB hard drive because that would be just too awesome. Add in the box's ability to tune IPTV, satellite and over the air signals and it really makes it a dream box that we'll never get. Of course all these specs don't shed any light on quality of the software and since the box is unobtainable, we're going to just believe that the software is dreaded, because that is what its going to take to get us through this post.

I seriously hate my country* sometimes. How is it we generally seem to get stuck with the lame, generic, watered-down, boring, no-fun junk. I guess it is because the majority (mouth-breathers) will just buy whatever 'product' the TV tells them to buy.
Thankfully, with few exceptions, the internet has allowed one to purchase virtually and goods they desire. Exceptions being things like this which operates on a dictated system.

What the TiVo Premiere should have been...
Cool, but ewwww, white
This is just one of a number of awesome set top boxes being sold in Japan, and never mind that plenty of Japanese TVs have this functionality already integrated into them.
I love the tuners various "cable" providers. The problem is that the satellite providers such as Dish and Direct TV needs to jump on board right now and think about how many people would jump at the chance to purchase a tuner card. I love the product, but these conversations Richard and Ben discuss regarding tuners gets on my nerves because not everyone in America has
cable for a number of reasons.
*SOBBING UNCONTROLLABLY*
Maybe some major internet publication (ENGADGET) with a large reader base (ENGADGET) who may have some connections with some person involved with US signal providers, like Directv or Dish or some cable company (ENGADGET) could ask said person or persons for a answer to the question WHAT THE HELL?
Seeing this article makes me wonder why everyone forgets about AT&T U-Verse... I've had 4 tuners for a while... (and 3 set-top boxes included... 1 being the DVR). Granted... only 2 HD tuners, 2 regular tuners, and HD playback of a recorded show can be run at once. -AdamZ
