AVSForum launches free iPhone App
As HD geeks there aren't many things we enjoy more than a spirited debate on an online venue and for our interests none are matched by the great AVS Forum -- other than our very own comments of course. We've learned more from this single source than all others combined -- well maybe not if you include Wikipedia -- and often get into it pretty thick with other participants. So you can imagine our joy to learn we have a new way to call out those that are wrong while we're on the go without having to carry around a full laptop. Overall we have to say we find the app very useful and at free it sure is priced right.

AVS is about the only forum I still visit regularly. There's tons of real professionals and industry people on there, and you will always find good info. Wish they had an Android App. :(
(they seem to love the ipad and iphone for home theater control, but I haven't seen much on Android... maybe its still too new and there's not enough support yet... Though gmote is pretty awesome, simple as it is...)
@LazarusDark
Android app is coming. Post # 19:

At this point in the smartphone OS battle royale there is really no good reason to release an Iphone app and not include an Android version as well (the reverse isn't true but I digress...).
@mac35
Android phones may be selling faster than iPhone right now but that'll change in a month or so. And why not tap into the iPhone/iPod Touch/iPad market? How many millions of users are there???
I think your Android bias clouds your lapse in reasoning.
@mac35 all I'm saying is look at mobile web access...that shows everything. the flocks of people getting Backflips for free on AT&T and other similar devices drastically skews the growth and marketshare of real android phones.
@tkuhl87
It isn't only about how many phones are out there, but also how many of those phones are owned by people who download apps.
But maybe even more important is how easy it is to develop an app. I know Josh T has talked about how much more difficult it was to develop the Engadget Andriod app which is why it was the last platform to get the Engadget App.
I love AVS forum and have been a member since Feb 05, but a lurker even before then. Certainly the definitive Audio Video forum in existence as far as I'm concerned.
Great app so far!
I love the AVS forum. It's an all around forum from the novice user to professional. By far, the most innovative site versus highdefdigest, highdefforrum, and blu-ray.com. Thumbs up for this app as I will download it right now.
Glad to see the AVS Forum do this. Haven't check in a while have to do that. Now lets gets an app for The Green Button! Having both would make my day.
great. now i'll spend even more time reading about stuff i'll never get to have. Still fun though!
Too much bickering and name calling on AVS for me most of the time, though I still hit it up once in a while for the sheer numbers. I prefer the Home Theater Shack.
This is great, I love AVS Forum. Definitely helped me out tremendously when I was setting up my home theater system, got tons of helpful advice and lots of useful information. I'd love to see more forum apps, it's a perfect medium for an app as navigating forums even in Safari is a tad cumbersome.
Hey all, this is Rob from Forum Runner (creator of the app). If you see any bugs or have any suggestions feel free to post up on AVSForum in the thread, or on our support forums.
Also, we haven't forgotten about Android! We have had an Android app in the works for some time now and it should be out soon!

Hi Rob! Please make thew Android version fantastic!! Thanks for your work!!!
Been a member on AVSforum since 2001. This app is a great way to quickly check something on the forum. Good job, keep it up.
Nice to see this. AVS is the only place where people are REALLY serious about this stuff, online. It is definitely not for the faint of heart, nor the casual passerby.
That said, I'm still finding the iphone formatted version online, instead of this dedicated app, looks far better than this app, especially on an iPad. The push notifications thing is nice, at least until it costs $, though I actually had to stop even email notifications a few years ago because it was getting out of hand. So I think the novelty of push notifications may wear off :-)
nathanh, are you saying the the new AVS Forum app isn't as good as ... what? Sorry.
