3DTV-enabled Super Stardust HD turns up early on UK PSN?
A few UK PlayStation 3 gamers have found they already have access to the 3D version of Super Stardust HD, reporting it "looks gorgeous" and (presumably thanks to the recent update) automatically adjusts the TV to the proper settings and prompts the player to slip on their shutter glasses. While the PSN store only shows a few updates, if you already have the game (and a 3DTV, of course) deleting it and redownloading should nab the new version. Of course, if 2D is the way to play we'd recommend holding off as a few have reported the new edition is limited to 720p resolution only, instead of the original 1080p. While that might be necessary to keep everything exploding smoothly in 3D at 60 frames per second, per eye, we're sure existing HDTV owners would appreciate every pixel they can get, so until we get some official release notes we'd leave this to the early adopting glasses wearers only.

I wonder if we will ever get a box that supports duel output polarization....
sits in corner.
Oh no, 720p. Whatever will we do.

Hello there,
this is TTP, the very same TTP who created the thread on NeoGAF, and I feel the need to clarify something about this news.
As you can read in the thread on NeoGAF, I've contacted Housemarque for clarification about this 720p thing. It turns out the version I re-downloaded from the Store (the European one) is some kind of work in progress 3D version. Not the final one.
I was told by Housemarque that the proper 3D version (which will be labeled 5.00 once updated - mine is still 4.00) will indeed display at full, native 1920x1080p/60fps when played in 2D mode. Not only that. Splitscreen mode will run at 60fps as well (instead of previous 30fps) in 2D mode, which my version already does (and it's awesome!) albeit it's "stuck" @ 720p for some odd reasons.
Here is the full message.
"I checked the latest version here with my Sony SXRD and it goes to
1080p mode as it should. 5.0 version (this can be checked from the credits screen) now supports native 1920x1080 and for the 720p it adds 4X anti-aliasing. Also the split screen co-op runs now 60fps.
Best regards,
Harri"
So, to sum it up, when the final version comes out...
- 2D mode will run at the usual resolution (1080p) and frame rate (60fps - even in split-screen) and will add 4xAA when displayed at 720p.
- 3D mode will run at 720p/60fps.

@TTP Cool, thanks for the update!

@TTP
