NASA TV launches full time HD channel July 19
Over the years, NASA has, from time to time, piped some HD of shuttle launches and other space related video via its satellite network, but starting July 19 it will be broadcasting 24/7. Beyond exclusive videos like shuttle launches, there will be a daily ISS update and plenty of file footage, all in MPEG-2 encoded HD. Media, cable and satellite providers should all have access so if it's not yet a channel in your area, you probably know who to call, or you can check out the webpage to see what direction you'll need to point that dish in.
NASA Television Debuts Full-Time High Definition Channel
WASHINGTON, July 15 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- On Monday, July 19, NASA Television will launch a full-time High Definition (HD) channel that media, cable and satellite service providers can access for news content and coverage of agency missions and programs.
The channel will deliver HD video that only NASA can provide, such as live launch coverage of space shuttles and other spacecraft. The "ISS Update," a daily program covering the activities of the on-orbit International Space Station crews, will air on the new HD channel. Video of the Earth shot by crews on the station and from NASA satellites also will be available.
NASA's video file news feed, media conferences, lectures, satellite interviews and special events also will be delivered in HD. The NASA TV HD channel will be offered in MPEG-2 format.

So who's going to carry this feed?
I hope that FiOS adds it since they never had a full time NASA channel.
Pretty sure the NASA channel is a free channel and your provider just has to provide it...it costs them nothing.
I'm sure it'll take years for comcast to carry this channel like it has for every other HD channel....comcast doesn't even have a regular full time NASA channel
It will never appear on DirecTV either. They launched a new satellite way back last year and so far have only added 3 new basic-cable-type HD channels, MSNBC, Travel, and LIfetime, plus the usual slew of regional sports networks and pay TV feeds that no one cares about. NatGeo Wild launched a few weeks ago on DirecTV but of course it isn't HD either.
