I realize there are a lot of good speakers where 60 watts would give the cleanest sound, but maybe I like my volume knob too much? I suppose 60 watts is adequate for more symphonic stuff as opposed to the metal I listen too maybe?

Lazarus Dark

Comments on New Pioneer Elite G-Clef line tempts new would be crop of audiophiles

@LazarusDark
I don't think you quite understand wattage as it applies to sound. It works logarithmically. 400 watts will only produce about 7-8db more sound than 60 watts, less than twice as loud. http://www.audioholics.com/education/frequently-asked-questions/relationship-between-watts-and-dbs

Also keep in mind that these are *real* 60 watts. Not the kind of fake 400 watts that you find in bookshelf systems sold at walmart.
http://www.audioholics.com/education/amplifier-technology/amplifier-power-ratings

Abe Froman

Comments on New Pioneer Elite G-Clef line tempts new would be crop of audiophiles

Not to mention the 7.1 analog input capable Elite receivers begin at $1600 MSRP. At $899 the OPPO BDP-83SE uses the best DACs on the market (ESS Sabre32 Ultra DAC) and it does SACD along with Blu-Ray. Pioneer should be able to do a much better job for less because they also use ICE Power amps on some of thier products however not the top of the line amps that they could be using. Wyred 4 Sound has an integrated amp (STI-500) with 250 watts in 8 ohms and 550 watts into 4 ohms.It has had some great reviews and it is $2,000. It uses the famous ICE Power amps from Bang & Olufsen. Step it up Pioneer we know you are capable of producing some great products like the KURO tvs that you screwed up by dicontinuing and now you bring out Stereophile products without sizing up the competition and hope that you can slide by, because people have come to respect the Pioneer Elite name. Remember Stereophiles do thier homework and you have fallen short on this offering. I hope you guys aren't slipping.

Mark Gonzalez

Comments on New Pioneer Elite G-Clef line tempts new would be crop of audiophiles

BOWERS!

Mitch
