Hahaha - what planet (country) are you from. Tell that to the folks doing 55 MPH through the dead traffic lights here where I live (mid-Atlantic US). Most folks that I polled about this after almost being rear-ended when I stopped at a dead light, believed that the "major" road has right of way and the "minor" road has to stop. Of course, they also all believed they were on the "major" road :). I'm not making this up.

Sure, radio waves bla, bla, bla. But I am paying for a service where I shouldn't be worried about that. That's why I switched from a local AT&T provider to T-Mo the moment they became available here. And now my work phone is on AT&T, with the same crappy service they had 6 years ago. I bet you most folks who get this, are iPhone owners who desperately try to get their prized possession to work.

Cinemanow needs to seriously look at their retail model if they want my money. I've "bought" a couple of movies from them using a coupon.
* The movies were not cheap - comparable to DVD prices.
* The DRM is very strict, with only 3 computers that can be authorized and no way to de-authorize a computer. So after a few years and new laptops / desktops later you may have nothing to play the content on. I emailed their customer support and they offered to sell me the movie *again* to allow playing it on more devices.
* The movies all had stereo sound - no Dolby Digital. This is the studio's licensing agreement, so I can't hold it against CinemaNow, but it stops me from buying the movie.

I'll stick with Netflix for renting and buy my own BluRay discs for the ones I'd like to own.

Optical connections are more expensive, less reliable and the cables are much less robust than wire connections. This is a great idea, but I'm not sure why it's got to be optical.

Anyone remember the Digital scripting language on a couple of cameras 10+ years ago? Everything old is new again... I ran Doom on my old Minolta EX1500...

You're missing how it works. It's not immediately hard - the impact energy is transformed into making it harder, so the energy is absorbed in the case and is not transmitted to the device. BTW, this looks incredibly much like Aaron's Silly Putty (or something to that effect).
