I tried that interface with my PS3. Maybe if you had an old tv you might want to use it, but otherwise, I thought it was awful and I quickly went back to the regular interface.
You may not care, but if you were married, your wife would.
The Green-Screen PIP on the HD-DVD is one of my favorite extras of all time. If my HD-DVD player ever goes belly up, I'll double dip, otherwise, I'll stick with what I have.
The Fall Blu-Ray is one of three things I use to show off my system-- talk about visually stunning.

I use The Host HD-DVD to show off sound-- specifically, the scene where the monster first emerges from the water-- its footsteps really show off the transducers I put in my sectional.

The third thing I use is streaming music via my PS3 with the earth visualization-- Dark Side of the Moon in a dark room with the earth spinning below on a 98" screen = wow.
This is called CIH (Constant Image Height), and it works the same as your local cineplex. That is, the picture will always be the same height regardless of aspect ratio, but the wider that source material, the wider the picture. Plenty of people have been doing them with home front projectors and anamorphic lenses. Screen masking also becomes simpler as the screen is only masked on the sides.
3D is the only reason we go to the theater anymore. Otherwise, we wait for the disk and watch it in our media room.
Oh Good Lord Why?
And you won't be until you apologize for Celine Dion and David Frum.
Of all the vaporware that just floats on by, this is the one piece of tech that I really hope makes it. Specs and price look awesome.
I pre-ordered mine from Amazon. It should be here before the weekend. Hopefully, all the bandwidth issues should be gone by then.

And for all of those who say that extras are a waste-- I love BD-Live stuff, as I did the HD DVD internet extras (and super-edition DVD multi-disc extras)-- as long as they're more compelling than garbage like ringtones and icons.
Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"With all the new multitouch capable monitors coming out, which one is the best? With the release of Windows 7 I really want a touchscreen monitor for my desktop. I'm looking to get a Full HD monitor that supports multitouch and can still look great during gaming and movies. Which one has the best specs for the price?"
