WOW, finally a Sony phone that doesn't look like it's a Gen-Y sports gadget.

Looks like a LG Shine, nicely done Sony.
NO THANKS, a bolt on battery to get only 10hrs from an Atom based machine, hah!

I'll wait for the Viliv S10, 2ghz Atom, 10" 720p screen, touch tablet, and 10 hrs of battery life without the ridiculous battery attachment and it'll probably be 65% of the cost of this Vaio X.

Sony, buy out Viliv now before it's too late!
Why would they make this??? In a world where the Viliv S5 and X70 live, sure they cost a bit more but then you get something useful,...

Touchscreen, 1024x600, GPS, HD playback and LONG (6hr) battery life in a tiny package.

Come on BenQ, just copy the Vilivs and one up with them with better battery life.
If I were an engineer at Sony, I'd leave, ASAP. They've got talented people but REALLY dumb management stuck in the 80's way of doing things.

Panasonic, Toshiba, or Samsung should just buy them out and put them outta their misery.
WOW, that is awesome, finally a laptop that uses AA power!!!!! This will save big bucks over the lifetime of the laptop. I REALLY hope the major manufacturers follow suit.

With the low discharge Ni-MH batteries like the Sanyo Eneloop, using AAs is a long time due.
What is wrong with Samsung??? They used to make cool laptops. The X60 / X65 were really impressive for their time. Now, Sammy is content with boring "me too" laptops that are rolled over in specs by the likes of Dell and HP.

Sammy, this is what you need to do:
First, if you are going to have multiple flavors for a model range, PLEASE include a high resolution screen option, like WSVGA+ (1680x1050) on your 15" models.

Second, you should have an extensive SSD option since, you know, you do manufacture them!

Come on Sammy, you used to make great laptops, but now it almost looks as if you've given up and just farmed out the work to some 3rd company like HTC or Acer and just slap your label on it. Is this the case? Very sad.

Well, you're being too harsh on Sony, they still make great gaming products like the PS3 and PSP. Although Microsoft is kicking their butts on the online gaming part.

Yeah, besides the gaming, I haven't bought anything Sony related for a loooooooong time. Except for the ear phones I got a few years ago. They lost their innovative ways and style years ago. Plus all their proprietary crap got on my nerves and I will never buy anything from them that requires proprietary accessories ever again.
I don't get it, is this a joke? It looks like they took one of their phones off the shelf and removed the keypad and made the screen larger.

Why ruin the Walkman name with this crap? Can you please do something innovative Sony and not embarrass yourself with this? The PSP is a great device, develop that. Remove the stupid UMD drive, dumb, dumb, dumb move on your part. Always trying to go the proprietary route. Stick with the PSP and make that the new Walkman. Not this overpriced boring device that's diluting the Walkman name.
WOW, good info DWells55, great post there.

I wouldn't be surprised if MS changed the codes just to get out of their warranty responsibilities.

After 2 failed Xbox 360s I gave up. I'm waiting on a really new architecture to come out, if ever. Until then I'm chugging along with my PS3. But I do miss Halo 3 a lot. Maybe when the 45nm chips hit I'll give it a try.

Come on MS, get your act together. Can't you contract with like Dell, Asus, or Acer to design a cheap box?
Well Sony, you've got your work cut out for ya. First do the simple things like, bring on the Dual Shock 4 (aka 360 controller like), how are you going to push FPS with an analog stick shaped like the one on the DS3??? For those faithful who love the DS3, that's cool just stick with it, but I'm one of Many who think it needs an update, badly.

What the heck is taking so long with those great game franchises like Gran Turismo and GOW??? And what's with not courting great game companies like Valve? I too want to play games like Left 4 Dead, sheesh.

I think if the PS3 community stopped bickering and defending past mistakes and stood up with one voice we'd get Sony to wake up and get some stuff accomplished.
Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"I just moved into a new apartment and have been reading about all of the new power strips out there, especially the green ones. I was wondering if you had any suggestions about which "green "power strips are out there with decent joules ratings. And when I say green, I mean power strips that have the remotes or switches to turn off all electricity flowing to certain plugs and with at least 2 plugs that are always on. I was looking specifically at sub $50 because I will need two, but if that is not possible I could be convinced otherwise. Thanks!"
