I'd love the grab bag
I hope A&E's "100%" isn't the same as TNT and TBS 100% on the "where is HD" website.

I think they count stretched SD as HD, with their numbers.

Though things have been getting better. For instance, they're actually showing some older sitcoms in HD now. Everybody Loves Raymond is consistantly true HD, for instance.

For a crime/investigation channel, I'm guessing it could have shows like NCIC, Bones, Law & Order series, CSI series, New Amsterdam, Cold Case, Monk, etc. If they do, then all of these already broadcast in HD on multiple stations.
well, theres 2 different things... light sensor adjusts backlight according to what the room light is, independant of whats on the display.

IRIS, and sony's ACE, and other implementations of dynamic contrast will continually adjust the backlight according to whats on the display. Where it gets confused is when the tv displays a bright white and deep black at the same time.

Turn both dynamic contrast AND light sensor on, and you get unpredictable and uncontrollable results.
I still don't understand why people would want an HDTV but not want to display any actual HD on it
"so far theres nothing out that is profile 2.0. don't mention the ps3 because I hate sony"

Um... just because you hate sony doesn't mean the ps3 isn't a profile 2.0 player. It won't just dissapear if you close your eyes.
Hmmm... I like and respect pioneer... I used to have a pioneer elite receiver before my onkyo. I have a beefy pioneer elite dual 10" sub in my car....

BUT what is the deal with those mini-satellites? Sure it'll decode HBR audio, but all that is wasted with those 2 pair of lopsided dice.

I'm also not a fan of plugging my devices into the Subwoofer, seeing as the A/V electronics are hidden inside (??)

Ugh... no knobs/buttons unless you use the remote? I'm probably old fashioned... as this will probably appeal to SOMEBODY.
agreed, amplifier power would be a deal-breaker for those who know what they're doing. Though theres always the chance that someone buying this wouldn't even care.

I think of HTIB the same way I think of pre-built computers from those "name brands".... I'd rather put it all together myself, so that I'll have more control over the components.
KC is my local HD... as far as NEWS programming, this would be our third true HD broadcaster.
Wow, his whole wardrobe is embarrassing. What country is this fashionable?
Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"I have a MacBook Pro and an Xbox 360 and I would like to get a 20- to 24-inch display that will support both devices. The speakers should be inbuilt, or there should be an aux out on the display to hook up external speakers. Help! Please!"
