I read this last night this is no different then most panny lcds but can be calibrated to lessen the red push.Cnet has bias for sammy lcd and pio plasma and everything else thet deemed bad. Although panny is all about plasma they make a darn good lcd it may not all the tweeks that sammy has but the avg joe doesn't know how to calibrate using such tools any way.I've had a lx60 in the bedroom and it has a beautiful HD picture I don't watch SD and could care less if it isn't good.
I don't think you read this carefully these are available in the US now (profession series)
Philips will never get its praise because here in the states most of us have never seen their top tier products. I'm not claiming he's correct but the do sell exceptional products in Europe, and continually win design awards. But as long as there isn't any exposure in the US we will never know. Even back with crt they had set that was on par with the xbr but as long we Amercans remain sheep and follow the crowd we will never know. In some place that I won't mention if you say a bad word against Kuro be prepared to be lynched. my 2 cents
Philips wins awards fot their designs and sells plenty of sets in Europe yet Engadget like many of US sites show no love for Philips. There's more to choose than Pio, Panny and Samsung.
what I find amazing is that the Maxent passed I thought it was a POS!
Probably one of the best post I've read in a while. I too live with floor to ceiling windows comprising one half of my apartment and have to balance my beautiful view versus controling light for ideal tv viewing. Thus I own a LCD.
OK that comment is completely wrong on so many levels.

Bring on more HD, just not on a sports tier!
While I agree with these numbers, your part of the article should say NYC not the Empire State which stretches from NYC to the Canadian border. If you counted the entire state which you imply (not the original article) NY wouldn't be in the lead.

Kudos to Wash DC if we could only get all of our news in HD.
Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"What is the best wireless surround sound speaker solution? I have a home theater where running wires is just not feasible. I have my own speakers, so I don't want a system that has speakers with integrated wireless. I've done a far amount of research and have only come across a few companies that even offer a reasonable solution: KEF, Kenwood and Rocketfish. Is there anything else out there? What do you recommend? Thank you!"
