No need to start flaming.

That's a crock of $h!t. Anyone who falls for this trap is a fool. They'd be better off spending the $400 on a standalone or PS3 then they can use the remaining $200+ on either replacing their HDDVDs(probably still not on BluRay - Paramount anyone?)or getting themselves some new movies to go along with is.

FS/BestBuy is trying to feed their customers garbage but telling them it's fillet mignon.
My bad. Seems as though my wife's account logged in for me originally.

My problem is that if you want to be a part of this program, you don't get the option to buy a $400 player. They want you to spend $600+ for the luxury of being able to play both formats. Realistically, who are they taking care of here? It sure isn't the customers. They're tying to do something to unload the inventory of combos because they're bound to go EOL any time now and they don't want it rotting on their shelves.

Who in their right mind would even bother buying one of the combos now? Noone with half a brain. This is a crap offer and they should do something better. Circuit City did.
When did I ever say force? I said "forth".

And yes you're right that they don't have to do anything but when the employess are commission based and the machines were at a sweet price point with the mail in rebate and 3 free movies and by getting the buyers to get one of their over priced "Monster cables" people got hosed.

As an ex-employee(who left for greener pastures and a career) I know what they make on those cables. For each HDDVD player sold at that time, the average guy would have been making $12+ on each one sold (not including any warranty). Push 5 of those out in a day and you've had some nice extra padding to your daily sales.
I agree Leo. It's an absolute slap in the face by them. Especially when they were telling people that HDDVD was where things were headed.
Circuit city is offering a trade in program right now though.
Personally I feel so jaded by this "Special Promo" that FS is putting forth. I applaude thier efforts but to force someone to buy a combo machine is garbage!
I would have to say that the coolest scenes was the tree of dead people.
Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"I'm looking for a pair of quality headphones that aren't seemingly made of glass. I'm an avid BMXer which causes me to frequently bash on any type of technology that joins me for my daily riding. I've been through the higher quality headsets in the Skullcandy line as these are supposed to be built for "abuse," which is laughable. I cant wear earbuds or canal buds, as my large ears seem to have a repelling property upon anything that sits in them. Wired or Bluetooth doesn't really matter, but I need something that can hold up to taking a few hits every now and again. I'm trying to keep 'em under $150. Thanks!"
