@LazyMegaMan: First you have to realise that "As soon as the image is captured, high frequencies are lost and the damage is done". Then you need a "eureka moment" to try an extra shutter in front of the system. Then its all trial and error :-)
How about HDV camcorders like Sony HDR-HC1/3?

They allow recording to HDV tape.
@14

"I'll finally be able to really control my home theater in 1.5".

What does that mean?
No too impressed with the service so far. Most likely due to the fact that there is so little true HD content available at the moment.

There was a bit of a rush to get the first install date in the UK (May 22nd) and I hope it will be worth it!
... and you may be liable for an additional £10 Sky+ (PVR functionality) monthly subscription fee since the HD box comes with PVR functionality and Sky prices that as a separate product.
"DRMs are put in place so that movie studios WILL want to release movies."

I disagree.

DMRs are put in place to limit the customers rights in order to extract more money from customers.

Be it by limiting a second hand market, forcing new purchase in case of defect media, forcing multiple purchases for multiple devices (mobile, ipod, TV).

Don't be naive and think that movie studios create content to customers because they are nice.

They create content to generate a maximal return to their shareholders and will keep finding ways of extracting more money from us until they reach a point where they are told off.

They will then stay at that point.
Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"I need help! I want a small pocket camcorder but I'm not sure which one to get. I don't want to fall into the hype of the Flip because I worry two hours won't be enough. What should I be looking for when considering a small camcorder and where can I get a good quality one with expandable memory? Thanks!"
