Also of note, the local NPR story said the number of layoffs is to the tune of 600, which jives with every other local story regarding that plant. Dell never came anywhere close to the production numbers or employee numbers they promised.
@The Joker: The mayor of Winston-Salem was quoted on NPR as saying that all of the city incentives will be repaid. The story made no mention of what would happen with state incentives. I'll believe the city's reimbursement when I see it!

This was nothing but trouble from the start. This has ended precicely the way I - and many other residents - said it would right after the plant was originally announced.
Who says I have to hold my arms up all day? Do you see iPhone users holding their arms up all day? I certainly don't... What I do see is people using touch-based gestures to accomplish simple things like panning and zooming on a web page or digital photo.

Such a device is rather practical for my household, particularly in a place like my kitchen or family room. My children can quickly and easily access pictures, music, and notes from Mom and Dad. Multitouch is brilliant. If Gateway can bring this device at this price then I'm totally game.
I was going to mention this. The Gateway speclist very clearly says 1TB "and" 64GB SSD.

Interesting thing, Engadget... They diligently allow for other edited posts to retain their original stature with stricken text. Yet for this post, they remove the problematic text altogether.

I understand that the text in question was an accurate reporting of the number TomTom app copies sold, and that the ramifications are that we - the people - can crank out some math to figure out how much money TomTom (and Apple) are making. Y'all should have considered the ramifications before posting your story. I'm surprised I'm the only one mentioning this, aside from Peevish Adult and noco37.

So deleting stuff after the fact isn't cool. Please don't redact stuff, Engadget.
Sweetness!
Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"With all the new multitouch capable monitors coming out, which one is the best? With the release of Windows 7 I really want a touchscreen monitor for my desktop. I'm looking to get a Full HD monitor that supports multitouch and can still look great during gaming and movies. Which one has the best specs for the price?"
