With that, I could finally get rid of my leaded crystal 3.5" floppy storage tank!!
Ok first, retroactive trophies will never appear.

Second, will someone please find a Comcast executive and kick them squaw in the nuts for me? I started my WipeoutHD download within about 5 minutes of release and it's only at 71%.

Rochambeau's are imminent.
I know this is PS3 Fanboy, and let me be clear that I don't own an Xbox 360 and it's unlikely I ever will, but punch-for-punch, Microsoft mopped the floor with Sony this E3.

They just had much more to announce, a lot more for their users to get excited about. More and more, my PS3 is becoming just-a-Bluray-player.
C'mon now, seriously.

Where's the spite, the angst, the rageohol? It's like there's a void in my heart since Toshiba threw in the towel. I thrive on other people's angst - does this mean I need to start monitoring Xbox 360 vs PS3 threads for my daily dose of disinformation?
Ha! Well, not everyone in OC is rich, and it could be argued anyone clamoring for more HD channels probably leans more toward "prosperous" than "destitute". (For a fun experiment, combine those two words!)

That said, of that list, only NHL HD and Travel HD are new. The rest have been in Cox's OC lineup for a couple of months now.

(I rent, and I'm leaving, as it's just too damned expensive, so don't give me any of that "Richie-rich" crap :P )
Well for the love of various deities, I hope we can all agree that THIS is truly the final nail in the coffin. Not second to last, or nteenth to last, but the actual, true, final.

I like how they say "the next DVD format will be short-lived, anyway". Some consolation for early adopters in that one...
You actually contacted Warner Brothers to tell them you intend to pirate their movies?!?

Can you say "World's Dumbest Criminals?". Using nothing but your admission (be it by phone, fax, or e-mail) you've put yourself in some tasty legal jeopardy.

The thing is, lots of people like you did just that - contacted Warner and said "I'm going to steal from you unless you switch back to HD-DVD". To which they respond, "if you're going to steal from us on the format with better DRM, why the HELL would we acquiesce and release our movies on the format that's already been sliced open like an overripe tomato?" How can you possibly think that's a good argument??

Comments like THAT are a good chunk of why HD-DVD has lost. All the major advocates of the format were advocates BECAUSE of the lesser DRM and lack of region coding. You think studios are blind to that? If you do, you couldn't be any dumber.

I personally hope they logged your communication and directed it to their loss recovery division. Say "hi" to the MPAA for me.
Boy, was I wrong. Based on eProductWars, I called for a substantial gain in HD-DVD this week. It appears HD-DVD is more boned than even I had thought. Oh well, so much for a correlation between Amazon salesrank and Nielsen VideoScan.

Well for me, I have to have the best picture and audio possible so if that means I need to rebuy, then I'll rebuy.

Wait, what? The movie won't change? Just links to websites and pointless online games? You mean there's no real value in this "2.0 profile" at all?

Oh. So wait, all this kerfluffle over an "incomplete format" just means I can't get to a website?

*yawn*
This is all just smoke and mirrors. There will be an HD-DVD announcement, and I don't know what it will be, but I'm certain it will put all you Blu-ray PS3 kiddies in your place. Maybe they'll modify their agreement with studios and force them to make all newly released discs dual-format, so that they can boost their sales numbers by piggybacking on the DVD juggernaut. Or maybe they'll offer a BOGO on players so that more people will be turned on to the format, you know, buy one and give the other one to your brother. Or maybe... maybe...

Holy crap that's hard! I suddenly find myself with renewed respect for the HD-DVD fanboys. You try it... it's so difficult it deserves it's own cliche: Trying to get a lug nut off without a tire iron? "That's like trying to explain how HD-DVD is going to win the format war".
Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"What is the best wireless surround sound speaker solution? I have a home theater where running wires is just not feasible. I have my own speakers, so I don't want a system that has speakers with integrated wireless. I've done a far amount of research and have only come across a few companies that even offer a reasonable solution: KEF, Kenwood and Rocketfish. Is there anything else out there? What do you recommend? Thank you!"
