Our DVR's got a new guide version last night at about 2:30AM. It's the Nov. build. Nothing really changed in it. I did notice that COX said that tru2way WILL be in the next guide that is supposedly coming out this summer. It won't be Macrovision/Aptiv anymore. It's some new guide that COX developed with some company I've never heard of. I can't look right now for it 'cause I'm about to head to work... but will look for the press release tonight when I get home. Google "Cox New Guide" and it will bring up search results for their new guide coming out.
15 hours of "Paid Program" and I can't watch it in HD now! Darn! My day has just gone dark. What ever will I do not having a channel in HD that doesn't do anything but show infomercials?
They haven't added any HD channels since 2007? I'd be fuming!
Our FOX station in Topeka, KTMJ, sucks big time! They didn't even flip over to the HD signal Sunday night during King of the Hill. For some reason they don't even keep the HD feed running on KTMJ HD unless a show is actually in HD. Even then, like during King of the Hill they don't switch it over to HD! The other night during Hell's Kitchen it started out in HD and then about 20 minutes into it they all of a sudden switched it over to SD the rest of the show. They really, really suck when it comes to HD and every time I send them an e-mail asking why they don't just keep the HD signal going like the other local stations do, or why a show that's normally in HD wasn't in HD, they never respond.
Oops. I accidently voted negative on Mitchell's comment. My bad. I meant to vote positive. I agree. Like this isn't being done anywhere else in the country already. It's been done for a long time in other markets. Even here in Topeka, Kansas we have stations, well one station, doing this. It isn't any big discovery.
WIBW down converts their HD picture to SD during severe weather events. They do it any time they crawl anything from "join us in live blogging" to "a tornado warning has been issued for..." They don't yet have the capability to scroll anything or put weather bugs on HD programming.
KTKA, the ABC affiliate here in Topeka has had an HD weather bug for over a year now. It requires a software or hardware upgrade to the weather bug system. I contacted our other two stations that provide weather crawls and bugs and only one of them responded. KSNT, the Topeka NBC affiliate said they would be buying the software upgrade to provide an HD weather bug and crawl after the digital transition is over with, before the severe weather season begins.
As usual... I let you guys know about a story and A: you mess it up and B: give me no credit for tipping you on it.
You've probably never watched ion because all they show is Paid Programming except for about 5 hours during the late afternoon and evening hours. All it is is a paid programming channel. Nothing but infomercials and a waste of space.
$259 isn't a high price???? Since when?
Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"I'm looking for a pair of quality headphones that aren't seemingly made of glass. I'm an avid BMXer which causes me to frequently bash on any type of technology that joins me for my daily riding. I've been through the higher quality headsets in the Skullcandy line as these are supposed to be built for "abuse," which is laughable. I cant wear earbuds or canal buds, as my large ears seem to have a repelling property upon anything that sits in them. Wired or Bluetooth doesn't really matter, but I need something that can hold up to taking a few hits every now and again. I'm trying to keep 'em under $150. Thanks!"
