I think it's great that you guys are doing this. Way too much bummer news going around...and a freebie like this would brighten anyone's day.

Brighten my day!!
oh hooray!!

I understand they're trying to balance out the HD network on charter with sports, movies and family programming but.....comon....Food Network? What about FX, USA, CC? SciFi?

What is with these people?
next they'll try to patent #FF0000, huh?
I've had these channels for a couple of months with the exception of TBS HD. TBS in atlanta changed it's scheme for local broadcasts and became Peachtree TV (WTBS changed the call letters to WPCH as well) and thus, our local broadcast on Charter went to PTTV and TBS moved to another channel.

I'm still hopeful that USA, FX and SciFi will show up on my HD lineup soon.
Still waiting on FX, SciFi and USA in HD in my area........still nothing. Are you listening, Charter? Are you? ARRRRE YOU?
First of all, and most important, I thought Neil Young loathed digital. He once was quoted saying that "digital is evil". I really don't care what he thinks either way, I'm just surprised.

I'd have to hear it, but still, it's hard for me to say if BD-Audio would take off or not. I never got into SACD because:

1) i don't listen to music in the living room
2) I don't have a dvd player in my car

Admittedly, though, I did purchase a couple of CDs in the past three years that included an audio DVD. Cant say that I listened to them.

With that it mind, I think it will take a while for the format to take off outside of the hardcore audio-phile club...if it even does that. The players need to be cheaper....more portable..and they really need to offer something more than just audio.

Maybe visual content on the DVD...interactive content...how about a live studio performance of the music (a la Radiohead's recent Basement Sessions)? Metallica's St Anger album came with a CD and an Audio DVD of the same tracks but if I recall correctly, they were performed live in the studio. Being able to see that performance would be great. Pushing it further and having complete control of the camera angles would be ACE.

I just played with the Dare(not too much as it was someone else's phone) but it's very very cool. There's this really interesting desktop like navigation where the icons are all spread out randomly but you can touch them and move them around. Also, the tactile response is an awesome feature.

Just not sure about the price point
I have the Rocketfish package and I don't have a problem with it unless the power goes out, in which case I have to power it back up. The room I have it in is next to the kitchen so while I'm sure there's a hum when the system is turned off, it's honestly not noticeable the hum of the fridge or the whir of the laundry room.

I'd much rather have wired, connections, but I missed the window to wire it up when my house was being built. But my system is good enough for me. I'm happy with it the way it is.
I have Charter in Henry County and can confirm these channels are running. Believe it or not, I'm kinda psyched about how good TWC looks in HD...all new content. Though some of the other channels are clearly just anamorphic formated output for HD which kind of sucks.
This is a sweet prize pack. can I be the winner?
Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"I have a MacBook Pro and an Xbox 360 and I would like to get a 20- to 24-inch display that will support both devices. The speakers should be inbuilt, or there should be an aux out on the display to hook up external speakers. Help! Please!"
