All of my components (Blu-ray, HD DVD, Xbox 360) are connected to my receiver via HDMI and then one HDMI cable from the receiver is connected to my HDTV.
Whatever the amount was, it was worth it. Look at the exclusives HD DVD received from the payoff. If HD DVD did not go under, Bee Movie, Cloverfield, There Will Be Blood, Iron Man would have been on the list as well. Paramount had the best lineup, period.
I don't understand why Samsuung is releasing a profile 1.1 player when 2.0 players will be out in the summer. They should just ditch this and go for a 2.0 player. Consumers don't need to be stuck in the same situation as 1.0 going to 1.1.
Yes, it is highly possible that they don't have the manpower to put out blu-ray discs. I agree they should have transitioned like Warner. The puzzling thing for me is the loss of revenue. 50% yes, probably acceptable to them (like when they went exclusive to HD DVD). But 0 hi-def revenue? It is better to use up all of the remaining HD DVD supplies and use (as long as they can) the equipment they bought to manufacture HD DVDs to recoup losses.
I can understand if they are stopping HD DVD and putting out Blu-Ray discs. But no high definition for about 6 months? They are losing revenue. It does not make sense. Something else is going on.
This is one of the main reasons why older HD DVDs are not being sold at closeout prices. Big movies will be released until May/June. I am waiting to take advantage of HD DVD deals. Having that said, I am also glad that HD DVD is still supported by studios since I own HD DVD players.
Sony had to go all out since Sony had more at stake in the war than Toshiba. Sony has lost majority of the casual gaming market to Nintendo and a big share of the hard core gamer market to Microsoft since the days of PS2 dominance. If Sony lost the war it would have been a double loss since they could not take the blu-ray out of the PS3. To have blu-ray only for gaming is not worth the cost (at least for now with its current pricing).
"I need help! I want a small pocket camcorder but I'm not sure which one to get. I don't want to fall into the hype of the Flip because I worry two hours won't be enough. What should I be looking for when considering a small camcorder and where can I get a good quality one with expandable memory? Thanks!"
