While I really don't care about the interactive features that you get with the 1.1 and 2.0 profiles (I mean, when's the last time you thought, during a movie, "wow, I wish I could do PIP with two different angles"?) the ethernet port is a big deal.
Blu-ray is still in it's infancy, and for J6P consumer it's much easier to plug their player into their wide open factory default netgear router (come on, I know you all have some in your neighborhood) than it is to find the manufacturers website, download the correct firmware, burn it to a CD, and THEN upgrade firmware. Hell, I'm a computer techy and the first time I did that with my player I burned a coaster.
Firmware updates is what makes the ethernet port useful, and only 2.0 spec players are required to have them.
I graduated from RPTV to front projection in one step. Motorized screen, ceiling mounted projector, when you're not watching TV everything goes away. Maybe someday people will graduate from flat panels to projection setups :) J/K. I think the move to flat panels is good for the consumer. A lot more friendly than either a huge HD RPTV or even a standard CRT.
Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"I have a MacBook Pro and an Xbox 360 and I would like to get a 20- to 24-inch display that will support both devices. The speakers should be inbuilt, or there should be an aux out on the display to hook up external speakers. Help! Please!"
