We do the same thing at our MS State Fair. Seems like the quality of fair food has gone down in the last couple of years, but it is still very nice to be able to run in (for free) and grab some food.
@Gary
The end of the story states that most places east of the MS river don't require cattle brands or ear tags. Being from TX and now living in MS, I can attest to that fact. Back home, I lived in a farming/ranching area and all cattle were branded and most had ear tags. Around here, when I am traveling the countryside, I don't see hardly any that way. Of course, back in TX, there were more cattle on just one buddy's farm than I typically see in 150 miles of travel here. I suspect, without reading the whole story, is that they are not going to auction houses. They are probably selling straight to a butcher, but, more likely (just guessing) is that they are selling what could be a 500 dollar calf to someone else for
I think you hit the nail on the head when you say that each individual varies. One of the best cross country runners we had at our school would generally party hard the night before, have a smoke or two before he ran and another few when he was done. Didn't seem to bother him at all.
That looks like a good deal to me. There are about 10 or so free apps up today, maybe something on there will be useful.
I have put up with "remember me" never actually working for several years now, this would be a wonderful make up gift. :)
That would cost almost twice as much as the TV it would be supporting.
This would help me be lazier on the sorta, kinda htpc I have setup
Best giveaway to date. I think. More or less.
This is something we could all use.
I biked to work for a while (only 3.x miles each way) and, even with the short distance, it was a task. We are fortunate to have a gym attached to one of the buildings here, so I was able to shower there (100% essential when it was typically already in the 80's with a matching humidity) and keep clothes in my office. For about 1 mile, there is a dedicated bike path, the rest of the way is fighting traffic, pot holes, and bad sidewalks. Mornings were not so bad since I was typically a the gym by 6:40, before most people are leaving for work. It was heading home in the afternoon... Not only would temps be around 95 in the summer (again, matching humidity most days), but dealing with the rough road conditions and people not paying attention to a biker made those 3.x miles something to almost dread. I have since stopped, but plan on taking it back up again. People asked if I was trying to save gas, but it was really only for my fitness. I bought a 90 dollar, 10 or 15 year old, used bike, spent another 65 or so dollars tuning it up and in 1 year time I would have broken about even on gas (approx 248 days of work * 6.7 round trip miles / 24 average mpg * 2.5 avg cost of gas = 171 dollars worth of gas per year specifically for work).

Anyway, all that really says is that if I had a dedicated bike path or, even smooth sidewalks/roads, I would likely still be riding. As it stands, I have to get my wheels straightened before long.
Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"I just moved into a new apartment and have been reading about all of the new power strips out there, especially the green ones. I was wondering if you had any suggestions about which "green "power strips are out there with decent joules ratings. And when I say green, I mean power strips that have the remotes or switches to turn off all electricity flowing to certain plugs and with at least 2 plugs that are always on. I was looking specifically at sub $50 because I will need two, but if that is not possible I could be convinced otherwise. Thanks!"
