Would you choose your format? I have a Panasonic BD Player with an SD Slot that reads AVCHD files, but I'm unaware of other options out there (besides other BD players). Unless the intent is that you would rent to watch on your computer, in which case streaming or download seems like a better solution.
I'll be getting Wizard of Oz, but at Target. They have an exclusive 3-Disc set without all f the "Swag" in the Deluxe Edition.
I think its better than HD DVD. I had problems with the HD DVD combo disc reading in my HD-A1 player. Plus, if you give the DVD to your kid and the scrat it or break it, its not like they did it to your Blu-ray.

Again, for enthusiasts this may not be the best deal. For families with a nice Home Theater AND portable DVD players, this is a nice solution.
Actually, they did this with DVD when the format was young. For the longest time, a new movie would come out on DVD for sale, and rental only for VHS. While it did piss some of those people off, it also gave many of them the nudge they needed to upgrade.

Really, if you're that psyched about Dance Flick or Snow White, Wal-Mart's got a $98 BD Player that's probably perfect for you...
I'll be picking up Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves today.
If you want 1080p output on your HD DVDs, this is not a bad idea. A lower priced Blu-ray Player (Sony, Samsung) goes for $399, and the HD-A30 goes for $399 also. So for the same price, you get it all in one machine. Plus, only one HDMI or Component cable, and one Optical or Coax for audio to buy.

And, your girlfriend/wife, etc. doesn't have to figure out which disc goes in which player. Which can be a plus.
Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"I am looking for a device that will stream sound from one source to several recipients. For example, I want to stream sound from my TV or stereo to my phone or MP3 player that has radio and Bluetooth capabilities. I have looked into radio transmitters and they seem like a decent choice, but I can't find one that uses external power (USB or from the plug) and I would want one with a transmit range of around 50 meters. Thanks!"
