I'm sorry, but, a penny a day is a penny to much.

This is no doubt a newsweek station, as WKMG in orlando is doing the exact same thing here, and Brighthouse refuses to pay out.

Over-the-air stations broadcast for FREE kids. They are NOT cable channels. You NEVER paid for these channels on cable before. They seem to think like they are getting "ripped off" but, cable doesn't make their profit on basic cable as it is....

And let's do some basic math:
One Penny * 30 Days ( ABC + CBS + NBC + FOX + CW + MyNetwork) = $1.80 a person.

If this region had 100,000 cable viewers, that adds up to $180,000.
This is just going to raise your cable bill higher!

And why should these networks get free handouts....they have WAY more viewers then cable...so can easily make lots of $$$$ via commercials.

Greed Much?

Don't pay em. Goodbye WKMG and any other channel that asks for a handout.
"The two TiVo models that use CableCards are not compatible with switched digital video channels, but TiVo and the cable industry are developing an external adapter to fix the problem. Orduna said the adapter is expected to be released this year and Bright House will continue to provide free HD DVR boxes to these customers until that happens."

Sounds to me like this is TIVO's fault kids!

I live in Orlando and have the Brighthouse HD-DVR, and let me tell you, I'm loving these new HD channels. I didn't know these were using switched video already, but, whatever it takes to get new HD.

Brighthouse needs to compete with DirecTV, so, excuse them for leaving a few hundred people in orlando in the dust...but.. you can't blame them for wanting to use new technology.
Can't say I own a ps3 yet, but the killzone is starting to perk my interest. If Sony can get some more exclusives, they may finally win me over!

(that is, after they lower the price to $399...since my job doesn't pay overtime =p)
Tombstone,

Sometimes we just don't want to share all of our cool things with our younger brother. After all, wouldn't you get annoyed if all you heard from that youngster was "I WANT IT TOO....MOMMMM....NO FAIR!!!"

Mine seems to be working fine so far!
Woot!

Just checked it out...ESPN 2 is now up and running in Orlando on Brighthouse Networks!
It's about time!

What a rip off!

For a console that will have been out for almost 2 years soon...how about this?

Xbox 360 Core System:
$199

Xbox 360 Standard System:
$299

Xbox 360 Elite System:
$399
w/ Built in Wi-Fi
w/ HDMI
w/ Small Chip Set
w/ Quiet DVD Drive
w/ 120 GB HD

120 GB Hard Drive:
$80

I have NO doubt you couldn't do that and STILL turn a nice profit.
Console's have always made money off of the GAMES not the actual hardware =(

Bad move M$ :(
***COUGH*** RIP OFF ***COUGH***

Come on Microsoft, you should be LOWERING the prices, not raising them.

$199 Core
$299 Premium
$399 Elite

Do something like that, and you WILL beat Sony.

But $500 for a 360 and $200 for a harddrive?!?

I don't get it. I really don't.
As others have said, the 360 was sold out for months after launch.

Now does Sony have a better supply? Are they better prepared? Who knows.

All I know is I have a Wii and a 360 so far. A handful of my friends have 360's. Quite a few of them have Wiis though.

I don't think I know ANYONE with a ps3 yet (a few of my friens are waiting til it's down to $199 or so...)
phobis,
Just admit that you're a sony fanboy.
Right now the 360 has about 10 times more games then PS3, and of those, some really amazing ones. What "Awesome" game does the PS3 have? What exclusive titles do they have coming out? What Online Gameplay Features do they have? What marketplace system do they have?

If you really were a software engineer (which, I just happen to be too), you would know that good software is more important then hardware. Why do you think the PS2 run over the xbox? It had better SOFTWARE (and other things like advertising)...but not Hardware!

While a HD-drive for games will be useful, at this point in time it isn't really needed. Very few games have come close to the DVD-9 max size. And so what if you have to load in a 2nd dvd. Not to mention, good PROGRAMING skills can minimize load times. Look at gears of war...during the campaign there are ZERO load times once you start. ZERO.

I agree Sony gets the edge here..but..this isn't a major factor. By the time it becomes one, the next Gen Xbox will be coming out.

And Xbox didn't come out with HDMI originally, because it wasn't needed. You get JUST as good of a signal with Component as you do HDMI. HDMI is only really needed if you want 1080p.

And did I mention that a Blu-Ray 360 Add On will no doubt come out within a year or two if HD-DVD fails?

Although personally, while I think Blu-Ray is nice...I would much rather have a dual-format HD-DVD/DVD disc any day of the week. Why buy a disk that will only be useful in like
Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"With all the new multitouch capable monitors coming out, which one is the best? With the release of Windows 7 I really want a touchscreen monitor for my desktop. I'm looking to get a Full HD monitor that supports multitouch and can still look great during gaming and movies. Which one has the best specs for the price?"
