The new firmware does not add the promised audio capabilities -- still no bitstreaming or decoding of ANY advanced audio formats.
I got mine through the Best Buy For Business website a couple of weeks ago.

The player is currently crippled in terms of audio; it does not output any of the advanced audio formats (Dolby Digital Plus, DTS-HD, multichannel Dolby True HD, or DTS-HD Master Audio).

This is been discussed at length on AVS Forum, with conflicting rumors about whether Samsung will be issuing a firmware update to correct the audio problems.

Editors of Engadget HD, if you have any contacts at Samsung who could provide definitive information about firmware plans, it would be very helpful to those deciding whether to buy (or keep) this player.
Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"What is the best wireless surround sound speaker solution? I have a home theater where running wires is just not feasible. I have my own speakers, so I don't want a system that has speakers with integrated wireless. I've done a far amount of research and have only come across a few companies that even offer a reasonable solution: KEF, Kenwood and Rocketfish. Is there anything else out there? What do you recommend? Thank you!"
