Is there any way to save what is on an old expander if upgrading? Can everything not copy protected be copied over using Tivo Desktop and then copied back when the new drive is place? If doing that, will it recode the HD stuff?

More space, need more space.

Can someone point me to something that explains the differences and why I should care? I have HD and Blu-Ray, both of which I connect via HDMI and optical. I'm not sure if that is the way to go or should I be doing something different?
