@freefallden:
it's called a retention plan, it has to do with carriers competing with each other for your business. Never said it was an official plan, just said it was my plan on my iPhone.
You have three phone numbers?! (*shakes head*)

Sorry dude, not trying to be a moron but you have to admit, thats a little bulky. Good debate, different strokes for different folks I guess. This is my last post, i'll shut-up now.
Ummm, you do know that your vonage phone doesn't work in a power outage...my iPhone does.
Also, do you get local 911 on your vonage connection, no you don't...my iPhone does.
Oh and your phone also depends on the quality of your internet connection which in some cases in some cities can be questionable.
And if your vonage phone fails, then again you have to fall back on an overpriced prepaid phone plan...oh yah and that stops working if you don't top up your account with another card every 5 minutes.
YES, quality and security costs money. I will admit that, that is why I don't mind paying $65/mth.
Please do some homework before you post.
@ BrianH

Do you have a landline...I don't. My iPhone IS my landline. So if you factor in the fact that you probably have to pay for a landline as well as your overpriced per minute prepaid phone, I bet our prices come out to the same dollar amount.
Ummm, no.

$65 +GST per month

and that includes tethering and MMS.

Any questions kids?
No problem here in canada. Maybe you should ask AT&T about the quality of their network. It only took Telus and Bell $1 billion and 1 year to complete a national HSPA network built by the best, nokia. Maybe AT&T should learn from them or give up exclusivity. If i were apple, i would be busting down the door asking AT&T why the quality of THEIR product is being questioned when its the crappy network thats at fault.

I get great coverage and signal strength. Even better than their old CDMA network. Then you really can appreciate the power of the iphone.
Ahhh, yet again, the war continues. Gotta love the fact that here in Canada we don't have a stupid iphone exclusivity. I can go to any carrier I want and get an iphone. Not to mention the carrier i'm with just built a brand new HSPA network that rivals the quality of verizons CDMA network...life is good, life is good!
Haha, great article. Welcome apple to customer service in the wireless industry. Between the death threats and flying phones i've dodged over my 5 years as a sales rep, this story does not surprise me. A co-worker of my had a knife pulled on him in the store. When it comes to phones, people seem to loose all perceptions of common sense.
Dear Apple,

Start and subscription based service for both unlimited movies and tv and i'll cancel my satellite. Go ahead...I dare you to try. Until then, i will only continue to rent movies from you. Your on the cusp of an epic win or an epic fail of a device...your choice!

From,
Long Time Apple TV Customer
I don't know what is more embarrasing for AT&T at this point.

- The fact that it seems T-Mobile takes better care of their iPhone customers
- or that the fact that here in Canada, our two other carriers that are CDMA (use phone tech like verizon or sprint) in the course of a year completely upgraded over to 3G HSDPA for the grand cost of $1 billion.

This proves that AT&T is just cheap and refuses to support a proper and reliable network. If a CDMA carrier can change over their national network (not to mention on the second largest country in the world, not to mention a country with less population than AT&T's subscribers) in one year. Then what is holding these cheap ass GSM carriers from giving us good service.
This is even true up here with Rogers (exclusive carrier of the iPhone). When Telus and Bell's HSDPA network launches on Sept 2nd, it will be a huge embarrassment to Rogers and AT&T as to what is possible when it comes to upgrading a national network.
Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"I need help! I want a small pocket camcorder but I'm not sure which one to get. I don't want to fall into the hype of the Flip because I worry two hours won't be enough. What should I be looking for when considering a small camcorder and where can I get a good quality one with expandable memory? Thanks!"
