After actually reading this vanila article, it should be noted that the reviewer basically gave this HD device a passing grade based on the playback performance of an sub-SD file. WTF is it that hard to find legal 720p demo files on the net? He has no problem finding TV Rips of Andromeda Strain. This system is all about HD, if you dont actually test HD playback, then the review is a total waste of time.
Based on my horrible experience playing HD .Transport Files (captured from my clear QAM card), I am not convinced that this device will actually play back HD content and not choke. Show me a review that actually tests 720p or 1080i content.
I bought one of these about 2 years ago. While all the hardware specs basically made this a must have item, the software on it was horrible. I bought it specifically because it said it could play back native HD/TS files. Unfortunately it could not. Be it playback via the 10/100 network or locally, my older Xbox running XBMC actually did a far better job at playing HD files, even tho its CPU (Celeron 733mhz) was too slow to handle full framerates (it could playback at 5-10 fps).
I spent a day with it before returning it for a refund. The software on this thing is pure crap. I'm currently running XBMC on Windows and its FAR better.
Dont get me wrong, I like the design and the hardware on the mvix system, its just that it didnt live up to the HD playback promise.
Yeah the mvix player, while looked great on paper, was a horrible device. Modified Xbox had far more functionality. I returned it for a refund after only a day.
Since then, I am very skeptical on these media players, extender or streamers.

"With all the new multitouch capable monitors coming out, which one is the best? With the release of Windows 7 I really want a touchscreen monitor for my desktop. I'm looking to get a Full HD monitor that supports multitouch and can still look great during gaming and movies. Which one has the best specs for the price?"
