Youre nutz-Ive seen both Dish and Dtv and comcast here in seattle, and comcast may not have as many channels but the pq is superior. This issue on a few channels will resolve itself as more analog are removed. But dont letany of these Dtv guys paint some rosy picture. THey do have a better selection but comcast for the most part has better pq. At least here in seattle.
The ps3 may not be perfect-but what is, and to get close you will be shelling out 3-5 times what you do for the ps3. With Sony's commitment to firmware giving us this update in particular Iam excited. As for a gaming console it's great. I only have a few games but who cares-if only a few good ones come out a year so be it. I have an awesome HD hub for movies, music, and games-plus I have a PSP I can remotely access my ps3,etc and watch and play on it too. Mock the ps3 all you want -there are many of us who enjoy it and see it future proof for at least a few more years, and in this sector that is saying a lot.
Definitely shell out the extra 2-3 bills for a ps3-it upscales great, via firmware updates it will be 2.0 bDlive interactive, and it can play great next gen games if that iis a bonus for you or your kids. Why just buy an upscaler on a dead format? Whatever.
I am glad I cancelled my DISH install a few days ago on Saturday morning!
If you have the money and you could use your 720 in another room-why not? Otherwise enjoy it until you want to buy another. It's really as simple as that. I just bought a 50 inch panny plasma 1080p because I dont want to buy another one in a few years. My tv's typically last for several years so it was a no brainer to buy a 1080p for me. Ive got growing room. The picture looks great now and it will look just as good in 5 years-even when there are 1080p broadcasts. cheers!
I posted that news 10 days ago-but thanks for mentioning it. Glad to have Seattle Comcast. Free On Demand HD FTW
We have 19 here in Seattle on Comcast with 8 more this month. THe Comcast ondemand is pretty awesome. We just watched 300 and are now going to watch the 10 episodes of the Tudors in hd ondemand. there are tons of cool movies and network shows in hd commercial free and it wont take up my dvr space. Later we are going to watch Braveheart on demand-all for free. Say what you will about ondemand but it has a lot of free hd good stuff on it.
MS downloads are a rip off-especially when most tv channels offer free hd streams on their websites. MS charges 5 bucks for a 720p movie that takes a day to download. Not for me. The sound is limited as well, and the 360 is so bloody noisy anyway. Id take comcast on demand over them anyday-better quality and cheap to free.
Poor guy quoting all that. Crying over spilt milk wont change the past. Now is when disgruntled HDDVD folks will mock and hope bluray falls on its face. I thought people were on engadget because they enjoyed HDM. Blu is the future like it or not. Do you like movies and HD? Get behind whoever won and lets support the mission. I would say the same if Toshiba won and bluboys sat around and mocked and railed on the victor. I guess these folks were more in love with the company then the idea of HDM. Even if you dont get all the stuff right now with bluray that you had with HDDVD thats no reason to throw the babay out with the bathwater. Grow up and move forward. Reistance and denial will only afffect you-not those of us who are happy to see the HDM ball rolling and will go forth and support whichever format won and that happens to be bluray.
That Nfinity guy is funny. Iam sure he's been pulling our leg and having a fun time. The alternative, if he actually believed what he's been saying, would be kinda of scary white coat material. Good on ya Nfinity for making us laugh. We find great humor in your posts. HDDVD has won-Its all a trick. Toshiba is handing it over to an unnamed company to take over production-Warner and Paramount are staying on with big incentives. I hear from unnamed sources all the blu studios are red with envy and will defect any day now. Its a great master plan. Everybody hates bluray. It sucks. All the sales figures are manipulted by SOny. It's a conspiracy I tell you. lol
Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"With all the new multitouch capable monitors coming out, which one is the best? With the release of Windows 7 I really want a touchscreen monitor for my desktop. I'm looking to get a Full HD monitor that supports multitouch and can still look great during gaming and movies. Which one has the best specs for the price?"
