Damn complainers read about this issue before you start bitching.

1. There are heaps of models of TVs that will qualify for this regulation, it just trims out the hogs.
2. It will cost you nothing extra to buy a more efficient tv.
3. It will save Californians money because you won't have to build a shit load of new power plants.

It is too bad there have been no more reports from Hawaii's switchover. There was a bit of confusion when they changed over but how fast were the problems resolved? Is it still a cluster f*ck or did 90% of the people drive to the store within the first 2 weeks and get a box?

Most Canadians, 85% I believe, have satellite or cable up here and due to... hmmm lack of competition, not enough population??? I don't know why but there is still a large premium on HD packages/channels. Only Toronto, Vancouver, Montreal and Calgary (as of last week) have OTA HD channels. One would assume they wanted more than the very niche amount of viewers that have HD up here.

Canada is years behind in technology compared to the US.

The premium might seem like a lot to average people but to a business they might be considered cheaper. SSDs are suppose to be less susceptible to failure due to bumping and jarring of a notebook. If you have a bunch of sales people with notebooks the downtime/failure cost can easily out cost the small premium. Showing up with a notebook that doesn't work could cost a client, make your business look bad, you might lose data, you might have to pay for data recovery, the sales person might have to work without an important tool, there could be times you are paying for someone to stand around waiting for the notebook to be repaired. The cost of having an IT guy load the OS and all the software on a failed machine could alone save the premium. A $100-300 premium for a 32-64GB SSD over a possibly unnecessary 250-500GB HDD seems like a very good deal to me.

EU is planning on banning Plasmas, I had sent Engadget an article the subject but I guess they weren' interested in it.

Basically due to the high power consumption of Plasmas they will likely be banned in the EU.

Obama broadcasts many of his ideas and plans to the American people through TV. I would be willing to guess that his is more concerned with his reach to the people than the actual switchover.

He takes office Jan. 20th... Feb 17th millions of Americans could be cut off from him. By the time Obama gets bailouts and plans going the switchover will be during the heart of the time he feels HE needs to communicate.
