This is a great concept. With gas at over $4/gallon, and auto sales slowing down in detroit, I hope they don't reduce the R&D budget for this. I really hope that Detroit can overtake the overseas manufacturers and move these into production on schedule.

PS - (for those that love the Tesla Roadster like me) Tesla Motors Inc., a San Carlos, Calif.-based maker of electric cars, has raised just $40 million in "bridge financing." In addition, Fisker Automotive Inc., an Irvine, Calif.-based maker of "green" sports cars, has raised $20 million in second-round funding led by Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers, according to a regulatory filing. The company had announced the deal last month, but without a dollar amount. Fisker previously raised a $5.5 million first round led by Palo Alto Investors.
