There is one MAJOR factory everyone is leaving out. EYESIGHT. If someones vision is poor or they're glasses prescription is off, they will never be able to tell the difference! My wife, in-laws, and several other people cannot tell the difference between Blu-ray and regular DVD even though I can. I have to agree on the fact the players still cost too much and load WAAAAY to slow. I have tried searching for a comparison on player loading times but have found nothing that is up to date, just "Fastest player yet" These movies would load alot faster if they just left the stupid Java Menus out. All I care about is the movie, not the menus and bonus features!
Why in the world aren't these things available in the US? I heard it was because they didn't do that well on the shelf so they pulled them. That's crap, the only HDD recorders I've seen at retailers is Tivo and the Phillips which I don't like solely because of it's color. Due to the drop of VCR's and the fact that DVD recorders blow because of they're limited function, I can't believe that these wouldn't do great in the US.
While this thing is kick ass, he should design one minus the keyboard and screen. I think Sony would hit a bigger market if they designed a PS3 more like an electronic component to blend in with the home theater setup.
I'd say if your waiting to jump on the HD bandwagon and don't care about PIP and Stupid Internet Content, go ahead and get a Blu-ray player. I have the Samsung BD-P1400 and I haven't had a single problem unlike some unlucky people. Those of you having issues, you should send yours in for repairs.
I've been lucky so far with my new BD-P1400, no problems yet.
Mmmm... That would look nice in the bedroom.
Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"I need help! I want a small pocket camcorder but I'm not sure which one to get. I don't want to fall into the hype of the Flip because I worry two hours won't be enough. What should I be looking for when considering a small camcorder and where can I get a good quality one with expandable memory? Thanks!"
