"2. Oh god, and I thought micro transactions were bad. Now we have to pay for demo's or beta testing??"

Are you really this thick?
I bought the HD-DVD player for the 360 and have yet to buy an HD-DVD. Why? Blockbuster has a nice selection of rentals (HD-DVD and BRD), though new releases aren't showing up terribly quickly. Add to that the ability to download 720p movies off of Marketplace, and I'm in content overload. Maybe someday I'll actually buy a disc, but for now there are just so many options available that I don't need to. That's simply fantastic!
"However I find it funny how everyone thinks this marketing tactic is soooooo cool- compared to when sony used "assets" in a cg commercial or presentation and how everyone felt scammed and “lied” to. Not to mention - than went on rants about how sony should die and and so on. Can’t we all just play all of our systems and be happy for good games in general? Anyway I have an xbox, havent gotten an xbox 360 yet but I might when Halo comes out."

The difference - Bungie has been clear from the start that this is entirely pre-rendered, non-gameplay video. Sony tried to pass off all of that E3 2005 pre-rendered video as gameplay footage. Huge, huge difference.
"Since the other thread got closed, I suppose I'll put this here. Those numbers in that Resistance file list are the LBA indices and each block is 2kb. This means that each padding file equals 32MB, making is a total of 7GB of FMV with 1.9GB of padding. Audio, in all its localisations, totals 2.24GB. The remainder is the archived game assets totalling 6.12GB."

From NEOGAF.
Any HD TV I've ever owned - I own 3 currently - locks the aspect ratio at 16:9 for resolutions at 480p or higher. These signal formats are expected to be 16:9.
"4. Woah. This is a drastic change from comments I've been hearing about the game previously. Some folks who attended E3 and got into the hands-on preview were adament that GoW would be fantastic. I wonder if they were shills?"

I love that. The hundreds of good comments were possibly shills, not the one or two negative from last night! Awesome!
360 hasn't been fully hacked - but the DVD drive has. It's not terribly easy to mod, but it's gotten easier in the last few months. The only purpose for this mod is piracy, as it only allows you to play singed content from burned media.
Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"With all the new multitouch capable monitors coming out, which one is the best? With the release of Windows 7 I really want a touchscreen monitor for my desktop. I'm looking to get a Full HD monitor that supports multitouch and can still look great during gaming and movies. Which one has the best specs for the price?"
